Which is more effective and common treatment for internal hemorrhoids inflammation: canasa 1000 mg suppository or anusol hc 2.5% cream. Thanks.

Canasa/Anusol: To treat internal hemorrhoid, I would recommend Anusol Hc 2.5% cream instead of canasa. Canasa enema is used to treat inflammation on the left side of the colon in ulcerative colitis. Suggest high fiber diet with diet supplement (goal of 25-30 grams per day), adequate hydration, avoid straining, avoid soap at anal area. If all failed, hemorrhoidal banding or other modalities. ...Read more

I sometimes take stemetil and glycerine suppositories but have hemorrhoids. Will the suppositories affect the hemorrhoids or harm and irritate them?

No problem: The stemitil will not harm your hemorrhoids, nor will the glycerin. Given the fact that you have hemorrhoids however you need to be extra careful with the insertion of the suppository so that you don't accidentally cut the hemorrhoid with a fingernail. Make sure that your fingernails are cut down very short before inserting and always use a glove. ...Read more

How long does it take for hemorrhoids to go away? (Or at least go down)? I'll admit I haven't drank much water recently or done fiber or suppositories

A few days. .....: As you know, hemorrhoids are dilated rectal veins, like a varicose vein. Constipation, straining to defecate (usually due to constipation), poor fluid & fiber intake contribute. Soaking in a warm tub, increased fluids and fiber in diet, & using an OTC hemorrhoid cream containing hydrocortisone should relieve swelling and discomfort. I would give it a week; then see your doctor if symptoms persist ...Read more

Are fleet glycerin suppositories safe? I am having trouble going. Too big to pass and have hemorrhoids. Extra fiber and water is not helping. Do I use

Yes, but: I don't thing they would help much. Your best bet is to buy a few enemas. Follow the directions on the bottle. Try to hold the contents inside for as long as possible (1-0-15 min would be good) and then try to empty as much as possible. You may need to try again in a day or so. Consult your doc if this isn't helping. ...Read more

I have grade II internal hemorrhoids, what should I do?

Office treatment: If your internal hemorrhoids prolapse out through your anus to the point that you notice it, that is not likely to go away on its own (the horse is out of the barn), and it may eventually get to the point that you have to manually push them back in. I have had several internal hemorrhoids removed and now I have to wipe excessively to get clean. Sometimes an hour or two later, I wipe again but very little. No blood, no pain no urge to go.

Pasty gooey: Hard to clean stool is usually due to a lack of fluids usually about 40 ounces short for the day. Stay away from caffeine and alcohol and increase your fluids. This should help in 3-4 days. You may also have had damage to your sphincter muscles from the surgery. This too needs to be evaluated. ...Read more
