Chest pain on my left side: Have you ever had, chest trauma, such as MVA, months or years ago. Or pneumonia, or L side fluid collection which required drainage. Have you had imaging of the chest; CXR, CT or MRI. if not I suggest to have them done, to rule out any other condition, such as chronic pleuritis, or pulmonary disease, or even rib fracture. In these conditions the blood testing will be normal. Go to a Dr. request t ...Read more

Having dull chest pain left side comes and goes but mostly at night when in bed?

Having dull chest pain left side comes and goes but mostly at night when in bed?

Check with your doc: Chest pains can come from narrowed arteries in the heart. However this usually occurs with exertion and resolves with rest. A pain in the chest at night could also be from acid reflux or some other GI problem. Or it even could be from some muscular or rib pain. I suggest calling your doctor for an appointment to discuss further. ...Read more

What do you advise if I have chest pain, left side almost center, above nipple?

Cardiac evaluation: Chest pain should be discussed with your physician. There are many causes of chest pain - it does not have to be cardiac, but the key to a good workup is a good history and physical exam by your physician. Chest pain should not be taken lightly! particualrly if you smoke or are a diabetic - this needs to be discussed with your doc. You may end up with a stress test. ...Read more

I have chest pain left side below my heart when breathing in and when lifting anything been there for a week now and getting more painfull. Any ideas?

Probably not cardiac: What you are describing is more likely chest wall (musculoskeletal) discomfort than a cardiac cause. This, of course, requires a real evaluation if the symptoms do not improve with conservative therapies, like rest, local heat, mild analgesics, and avoiding any exacerbating activity. If not improved, contact your physician. Btw, be careful to call your symptoms chest "discomfort", not "heart"! ...Read more

been to gp for appointment- chest pain (Left side) & shoulder pain. He gave me antibiotics. But I feel it isn't doing anything. What should I do doc?

Tough one: Because you are on Immunosuppressants, gp was concerned about pneumonia, which is usually accompanied by cough, phlegm, and fever. Can't tell from what u say what u have. So many causes of chest and shoulder pain. Most obvious thing for you would be something related to RA. If it hurts when u move your shoulder this would be yet more likely. Best wishes. Taking Lithium, Welbutrin, Lamictal, Dr. says HR around 120 last few visits. I have occas. chest pain left side, heart occas.has rumbly feeling.Ideas?

Rhythm Monitoring: Would discuss chest pain with your doctor to help determine if further testing is required. Heart rates can be elevated for lots of reasons and an ECG or home monitor can be very helpful in determining the reason for the high heart rate. Treatment would then be directed towards the underlying cause. Having a heart rate consistently over 110 beats per minute should be further investigated. ...Read more

Burning chest pain left side since yesterday after eating chicken alfredo. I'm 18, healthy, no history of heart disease. Please help i'm scared!

Workup mgt: These symptoms may be related to Gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), especially given the relationship between the pain and eating. If there is bleeding with the pain, ulcerative disease is unlikely. Other causes though are possible, and I would recommend seeing your physician. ...Read more
