Photorejuvenation: Ipl is a filtered light device that is effective in removing brown spots and blood vessels, good for treating sun damaged, acne and rosacea skin. With properly filtered wavelength, and used in conjunction with a medication, this can also be used medically to treat precancerous and selected skin cancers. Ipl is not for everyone. Can I use intense pulsed light (ipl) therapy to remove outdated tattoos?

Nope: Using an ipl to remove a tattoo would be like using a screwdriver to hammer a nail. You need the right tool for the right disease. At las vegas dermatology we have a gold standard laser therapy using our revlite si q switched nd:yag laser to remove unwanted ink. This laser fires in the nanosecond range and leaves the other skin normal- http://www.Lasvegasdermatology.Com/services/tattoo-removal. ...Read more

This : This depends quite a bit on the type of tattoo (the colors, etc). Different tattoo pigments are targeted by different lasers. I would make sure that you go to a reputable, experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon for advice prior to proceeding in order to achieve maximal results. I hope that helps! ...Read more

The user switches filters on the IPL that kind of strain down the wavelengths to emit different bands of light. The IPL is inexpensive so its popular at salons it can be used to remove redness in scars, rosacea, dark pigments, hair, acne maybe even veins. Its important you go to a well trained person pref. Help docs, is intense pulsed light devices helpful to treat the skin problems?

It depends...: Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a treatment modality that can help with skin rejuvenation and improving skin discoloration. For instance, it can help to improve the appearance of freckles, sun-induced skin damage, and small spider veins or other broken capillaries. So... it depends on what your skin problem is, as to whether IPL can help. You should consult with your plastic surgeon / dermatologist ...Read more

Will intense pulsed light (ipl) technology help reduce my spider veins? I have little red veins on 50 percent of my thighs above my knees. I feel very unattractive when i wear my swimsuit. I feel like people see the spider veins instead of me. Is intense

IPL : Ipl is partially effective in that it will cause coagulation of the small telangiectasias in the most superficial layers of the dermis. The problem arises in that the recticuar feeding veins in the dermal and subdermal subcutaneous fat are generally too deep to be effected without running the risk of significant thermal damage. Secondly, a full venous duplex ultrasound exam, done in the standing position, is really needed to uncover if there is underlying venous insufficiency from an incompetent varicose vein (usually great saphenous, small saphenous, anterior or posterior accessory saphenous or a thigh or calf muscle perforator vein) which is really the root of the problem because the spider complex will reform with in the next 2 or 3 months unless the more proximal cause of the venous insufficiency is correctly addressed. ...Read more

Will intense pulsed light (ipl) technology get rid of my varicose veins? I have a few large reddish-purple varicose veins on the inside of my left leg just lower than my knee. They bulge out and are so ugly. I feel uncomfortable wearing shorts or skirts t

Probably not: I agree with drs. Hansen and d. Ipl might work for very fine spider veins but if your veins are bulging, you are liekly to be disappointed with the results you get from ipl. I would recommend seeing a vein specialist (phlebologist) who can evaluate your legs to make sure that there is no undersying vein trouble. If there isn't, then smaller veins can probably best be treated with sclerotherapy. ...Read more

What : What you are describing sound like large telangectasias or spider veins, or may be true varicosities - it is hard to tell without looking at them. These are in a common location and can be due to reflux in the great saphenous vein or reflux from a perforating vein. In any case, you should probably have a full evaluation from a vascular surgeon or licensed phlebologist before having them treated. If they are a symptom of a larger problem (like the afore-mentioned reflux) they are unlikely to go away with pulsed light or even injection until the causitive problem is treated. In general, injection is probably more effective than pulsed light for larger veins. ...Read more
