An acid blocker may be helpful like Zantac (ranitidine) or Prevacid . You probably need an upper GI study or endoscopy if your symptoms do not improve. Make sure you write or type your concerns prior to your visit. Best of luck ! ...Read more

Could my 3 year old be autistic?he is not yet pottu trained, has speech and language delay passed his hearing test.he throws very violent tempers.
It is hard to say ..: You did not provide enough clinical information. Does this happen in all environments or does he save these behaviors for you specifically. Does he exhibit periods of time where he is engaged in activities with other children: does he understand the language you use with him, does he have a range of emotions: happy, sad, etc. You should discuss these questions with your Pediatric Specialist- KB ...Read more
Good question: It depends which studies you are looking at. Most will define it as less than 19 years old. By changing the definition though to an earlier age the statistics will obviously change. Most news stories do not usually clarify that. For accurate numbers go to the national campaign to prevent teen pregnancy website. They are a well funded nonpartisan group with accurate information. ...Read more

8 yr old nonverbal autistic child + bicuspid aortic valve + now also diagnosis with 3.15 CM dilated ascending aorta. When to do surgery?
Complicated question: Timing of aortic root replacement is complex in childhood. Factors include the z-score of the aortic root diameter (which requires knowledge of body surface area), the rate of growth of the aorta, the function of the aortic valve, and the underlying cause. At 3.15 cm, it is unlikely that surgery is indicated at this time. Surveillance, typically by echocardiogram, should be performed regularly. ...Read more
