I'm using 2 rotacaps for asthma (salbutamol sulphate& ipratropium bromide, fluticasino propionate& formaterol fumarate). Is the long term use safe?
Yes and no: The last drug you mentioned formaterol is a long acting beta agonist (laba). In the us, labas alone are used in treating copd. When used in asthma and to reduce their potential serious side effects, they must be combined with a steroid like fluticasone. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Fair: Cromolyn is effective for a subclass of patients with asthma. We lack a blood or other test to identify those persons who are likely to respond so you have to try everyone. The trial requires administration 4x/day for 30 days. Its hard for many people to stay on this schedule so some people who might be helped do not benefit. Once shown to work some folks can take cromolyn 3x or twice a day. ...Read more
Can taking ferrous gluconate (elemental iron) and fluticasone propionate (flovent hfa inhaler) simultaneously be harmful?
Unknown...: Safety data for nasal steroids in most studies were short-term (up to 5.5 years)--with no major adverse effects. The package insert for this medication only states that patients using it longer than several months need periodic exam for changes in nasal mucosa. It also states that a majority of the drug is swallowed during administration but after 1 year, no effect on adrenal function was present. ...Read more
Up in the Air: There are not sufficient data one way or the other to say specifically that advair won't harm your baby. As a general rule, inhaled medications are somewhat safer than pills or liquids because the levels in the blood are not as high for inhaled medications. Your doctor can help determine if your lung disease severity outweighs the potential risk to your baby. ...Read more
Not available.: This medication is no longer on the market, but i never heard a reason why. Most often, these are business decisions - even if a medication is effective, it will be discontinued if it doesn't generate enough profit for the manufacturer. With cromolyn, however, there probably wasn't enough bang for the buck; inhaled steroids are vastly more effective, and cromolyn was quite expensive. ...Read more
Which inhaler is a rescue inhaler, xopenex (levalbuterol) hfa or dulera? Already used xopenex (levalbuterol) hfa and did not get full relief
NO: While ipratropium is generally used for copd, and usually in combination with albuterol, albuterol is generally used in asthma. So no harm, but may not achieve the goal of therapy when used in itself in either condition. Further since it is anticholinergic, excess usage will cause its own side effects. ...Read more
I use albuterol sulfate ProAir rescue inhalers for my asthma. Can I use salamol cfc free inhalers in replacement of this? (it's more affordable)
Heart racing...: There is no direct interaction or contraindications, however, bromphed dm contains Pseudoephedrine and proair contains albuterol. Both are stimulants to the heart, so you may feel palpitations or your heart racing. At 22 this should not be a problem as long as you don't have any heart problems. ...Read more

Asthma attack every night for 1 week. Taking bricanyl (terbutaline) tablet and ventolin nebule for nebulizing. Is this safe?
