Instructions For The Parents Choice Baby Bottle Food Warmer
When can we introduce our 3 month old baby to the bottle feeding? We fear that bottle feeding might bring the chances for infection. Plz suggest
Now: You can introduce a bottle as soon as breast feeding is well established- i usually recommend at about one month of age. Its helpful if someone other than mom feeds the baby the bottle and if mom leaves the house so the baby won't cry to nurse instead! to decrease chance of infection make sure you clean and sterilize (in boiling water) the bottle equipment. Clean after each use. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When baby needs solid food in what month? If the baby eat breastmilk and formula ?Please send me table of baby food
On The Bottle Again?: If taken from the Ganges River I'd advise that you do. But most commercially bottled water is OK. My grandfather always boiled the tap water to get rid of the chlorine in it but as far as I know most bottled water doesn't have that, or fluoride in it. No harm in boiling it though, as long as it's body temperature or less when given to the baby. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
Is there a difference in the brands of formula for babies (similac, parents choice) my baby has acid reflux and throws up on PC formula not any other?
Minor difference: Most milk-based infant formulas are essentially the same, although different companies will sometimes make very minor changes such as a different amount of calcium. There are some formulas which are designed to be easier to digest, and some babies with acid reflux have less spitting with these formulas. Powder vs ready-to-feed can make a difference, too. ...Read more
4 m old is on nutramigen & throws up at least 1/2 his bottle each feeding and is fussy also. Is there another brand of formula recommend instead.
An infant who is: spitting up, not gaining weight well, irritable, wheezing or having other medical problems requires an an evaluation to diagnose the cause of the vomiting. Sometimes there's a problem like reflux, a sub-mucous cleft palate or feeding issues, which don't respond to multiple formula changes. Some infants spit up the entire first year, but have no serious medical problems from it or that cause it. ...Read more
Using breastmilk that is frozen in ice cube trays to place in bottle, what is the best/fastest way to warm it up for baby? Would a bottle warmer work?
Why warm it ?: Freezing breast milk inactivates the benificial immunoglobulin in the milk, it reamins balanced and good nutrrition, but not as good as the fresh stuff. Some babies will actually enjuy a chilled feed and i don' see any reason to warm it.Some babies want it warm if they are used to warm bm from the real thing, but there is no biological need for it to be warmed. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Is similac total comfort a good formula for a baby with reflux and constipation? Which would you choose: similac total comfort or s26 gold ar?
Depends on concerns: Both formulas can be helpful with reflux but only similac total comfort helps with constipation. The s26 gold ar has added cornstarch to decrease reflux but this is still a cow milk formula. If your infant has problems digesting cow milk then the similac total comfort would be a better choice. Also remember that similac total comfort is formulated for 6 months and older. ...Read more
Multiple layers: This is a more complex question than it might seem on the surface. As dr. Bergman indicated, grandparents often are exempted from some rules that parents impose, but it is also important that they not undermine parental authority. Loading kids down with candy has problems ranging from weight to tooth decay. The broader question is how can grandparents be a positive force in the child's life. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

No risk: Fluoride in the baby's water is a great idea but your pediatrician should know the amount of Fluoride in the water in your community and whether or not the baby is using tap water or other source of bottled water which may not have Fluoride so they can advise whether a Fluoride supplement is indicated, . ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers

Constipation: Soy formulas are usually more constipating that others, but the opposite can be true as well! The only way to figure out which formula is best for a baby's digestive tendencies is by experience. It can take up to two weeks after a formula change for the results to be known, so rapid formula changes is best avoided. A common trial sequence is: cows milk based, lactose-free, soy, elemental. ...Read more
