It depends: On when the stump neuroma was removed. Please give more info. You can ice the area, and take an otc anti-inflammatory if able (ibuprofen, naproxen). You also should clarify what you mean by "instep." this term typically refers to the top of the midfoot, but i suspect you may mean the "arch area on the bottom of the foot?" sorry, wish i could help more...I'll look for your question to re-post. ...Read more

See a podiatrist: You have a problem and an in person exam can pin point it. A differential diagnosis could include, neuroma, plantar plate tear. Those would be my first two thoughts mainly cause the condition is bilateral. So, a stress fracture or the likes would be less likely. ...Read more

Yes: Stress fracture, just like any other fracture causes swelling and bruising. The difference is that stress fracture results from over uses and pressure on the bone versus other fractures that are usually caused by trauma. Treatments of most of the foot fractures including stress fracture is immobilization along with compression, rest and elevation. ...Read more
