Instead of gaining the freshman 15 my son lost. Should I be worried?

Not, unless to thin!: Most people gain the weight because of less physical activity. And eaitng too much bad food. If your son is playing a sports, either varsity, or intramural, he may be burning off calories from actrivity. Many colleges have gyms better than private spas. And the answer most likely to please mom; your home cooked meals are better! anyway, with an obesity epidemic, unless too thin, don't worry! ...Read more

I am in finishing the week 37 of pregnancy, and the my baby is male but now his weight is about 2400 grams, should i worry about his weight?

In nature...: In nature, people don't know how much an unborn baby weighs. So, if a pregnancy has been going well, there is no worry about the weight, because nobody knows the weight. That means having a numerical estimate of the weight, can become a cause of worry. That being said, 2400 grams with 3 weeks to go is ok, in a normal pregnancy. ...Read more

Yes. Find out why.: If one is truly underweight (based on height, family background, and body type), a dr. Can evaluate for a hormonal, digestive, or other disorder. If no medical cause is found, then one can add weight by eating more calories of nutritious foods, while also doing weight-training to increase muscle. 1-2 ultrasounds help: An ultrasound study of fetal size knowing lmp helps. A baby is not considered to have growth restriction until very small (usually <10th %ile compared with others the same age). Having 2 ultrasounds can show the trend for fetal growth. Expectant mothers might want to take a look at my guides, including the one on ultrasound and this one on first pregnancy: https://www.Healthtap.Com/health_guide/27. ...Read more

Get evaluated: Diabetes is characterized by increased thirst and increased urination. But don't be worried, instead get the answer. I would think you may want to have him see his doctor, get a urinalysis, and get a blood sugar level. Even if not diabetes, there may be something that can be done for him. ...Read more

Should i be concerned if my 5 year old daughter just caught the chicken pox. I am 23 weeks pregnant and currently waiting on a phone call back from the dr. Is my baby at risk?

Should i be concerned if my 5 year old daughter just caught the chicken pox. I am 23 weeks pregnant and currently waiting on a phone call back from the dr. Is my baby at risk?

Depends: If a pregnant mother has had chicken pox already in the past, there is little risk to her pregnancy when coming in contact with an individual with chicken pox. If she has not had chicken pox, then a doctor may administer a post-exposure prophylaxis within 96 hours that can be effective to limit any transmission of chicken pox to the fetus. ...Read more

Honestly : Honestly this is a question your ob/gyn will have to help you with. Have you informed him/her of your history of retinal detachment? Were you referred to an ophthalmologist since being pregnant? If not you should contact your doctor right away and bring up your concerns. A doctor who specializes in this type of problem can be consulted, if not in person, then at least your doctor can speak to them by phone since you are so close to your due date. Good luck i encourage any doctors who have experience with this issue to please comment. Thanks in advance. ...Read more

I found a worm coming out of the blackberries my 2 year old was eating. Should I be worried and take her to the doctor? I'm not sure if she ate one

Not particularly: In prehistoric times these were considered just another source of nutrition. If you can get beyond the scary factor it has little importance. Your 2 year old uses their sense of taste to explore the world. It is not unusual for them to consume pet food from a dish, eat bugs, or lint off the floor. If you won't sleep until she's checked take her during regular hours, but I wouldn't bother. ...Read more

My 13y old son is worried that one of his testicles has the shape of a bean and not round. Is this normal ?Cz I have no idea and i got worried thk you

Think Olive: The normal testis is oblong and has more the shape of an olive (small in childhood-super-sized after puberty) or a bean shape depending on the type of bean. It will have some blood vessels attached to the backside & may give it an odd feeling where they are attached. ...Read more

Unfortunate: Please accept our condolences for your loss and ongoing challenges. I strongly encourage open and honest dialogue with your primary care physician even if there is "nothing going on". I've lost about 15 kilos and playing in the gym and do situps from about a year but i still have problem with extra skin what should I take and do ?

Post Weight Loss: First, congratulations on your weight loss. Second the situps are probably the least effective exercise there is. You should have a variety of exercises or activities that will help stretch and work out all of your major muscle groups. I would add swimming as that is a very powerful form of exercise that works almost all of the major muscle group s at the same time. But thing cardio as the best. ...Read more

I am diabetic and i recently had a WBC of 12.8 is this something to worry about, I am 50, raising a 12 yr old and going to school part time. ?

Need more data: A WBC of 12.8 can be due to an infection or inflammation. A complete blood count will tell more information about the WBC in terms of which types of white blood cells are elevated. This number is only slightly elevated and you may need a repeat wbc. ...Read more

See MD: I would see your MD to look into any medical issues that may be making weight loss difficult. If you have a strong family history of weight issues and diabetes ask for a lipoprotein subset testing for insulin resistance syndrome. If positive, early treatment for this condition can help balance your metabolism. Also ask for Vit D testing as too low Vit D can also cause slow weight loss. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insulin_resistance ...Read more

I have lost 50 lbs since march by walking a mile a day and changing diet I am concerned my fatty liver is getting worse. Seems like the lbs keep falling off is this normal?

Been here before?: Your name is familiar. Trying to lose that much weight this fast? A mile a day is good for about 140-200 calories a day; roughly 3500 calories to the pound-that's a lot of walking. Cut out and/or spend 500 calories/day, lose about 1.5 pounds/wk. With wt loss the fatty liver should get better-smaller, more normal lab results. If weight is lost involuntarily, it could be problem follow up w/md(. ...Read more
