Son, 7, dropped from 66 to 59lb last few months. Not sick. Eating cereal instead of meals numerous times a week (his choice). Should we be worried?
Have him examined: Usually kids at age 7 don't lose weight unless you have purposely decreased high calorie foods in their diet (e.g.- high calorie drinks, fast foods, snack items). Cereal is filling and has a lot o calories usually. Replacing a meal with cereal under most circumstances still provide calories and patient shouldn't lose weight. See your doctor: At 15 months, both only babbling (does he say mama and dada?) and standing for a few seconds is on the later end of normal. If he's continuously advancing, he may be meeting his milestones on his own time, but there are so many benefits to catching delays early that it's worth it to see your doctor for a professional evaluation.
