Insect bites: BrendanC, 6 weeks seems like quite a long time for insect bites to heal, although this is possible if you are scratching them frequently which can delay healing. Mosquito or spider bites can take a while to heal and can often leave a small lump in the tissue with darkening of the skin which resolves over time.
