Ur Dr. Knows Best: If your surgeon thinks it is a lipoma, that's more-than-likely correct. Although often painless, angiolipomas (benign) can cause pain. Also, if the lipoma is under the fascia next to muscle, it may cause pain. I'm sure the surgery will go well and you'll know with 100% certainty what it is. Good luck! ...Read more

Not unusual: Sounds like pressure on the tumor produces pain when you extend your leg but not when it is not pressed. Sounds like it is possibly pressing on a nerve or a nearby sensitive structure - a bursa possibly? ...Read more

See a specialist: There is a condition called lipomatosis in which multiple lipomas are found. It carries no cancer risk. There are other conditions like neurofibromatosis, where there are multiple subcutaneous masses, but there is a risk of cancer. Large egg size/shape lump very deep inside my left upper inside leg/thigh. No pain, but feels like i can move it around. Fatty tumor or what? Remove?

Check it out: Most likely fatty tumor or fibrous tumor, less likely possibly femoral hernia. See a general surgeon. Sounds like nothing serious but in general if we can't get a tissue sample, we are not 100% sure of what it is. Don't lose sleep over it but get it checked out. ...Read more
