I have a hard lump in my inner thigh, could it be a tumor?

Hard lump Dx: Any hard lump should be evaluated by your physician. It could be as simple as a benign fatty tumor called a lipoma to more serious conditions. Read more

Neoplasms (Definition)

"tumor" literally translates as "mass", so even a fresh bruise could be called a "tumor". Doctors use the term "neoplasm" (tranlates literally as new growth) to describe tumors that are abnormal growths of cells. These may be benign or malignant; "malignant" = cancer. In everyday usage, we use "tumor" ...Read more

Any: Any new mole or bump that appears on the skin after the age of 20 need to be assessed by a dermatologist to determine if it is malignant or cancerous. The bump could very well be an inflamed hair follicle or ingrown hair, however it is better to be safe than sorry. See a dermatologist to have it assessed. Read more

3wks have pain feels like bruise right hip waist side of back into groin and inner thigh feels little better laying down I'm scared it's ovarian tumor?

Symptoms are vague: Difficult to say what this might be from but it certainly sounds worthwhile and reasonable to get an OBgyn exam possibly with an ultrasound to see. There can be many many causes, benign as well malignant, that give the symptoms you describe Read more

Can there be a way to get rid of thigh tumors?

Can there be a way to get rid of thigh tumors?

Surgical excision...: "tumor" is a nonspecific word that can refer to either a benign new growth or a malignant growth. Most people think of "tumors" as solid proliferations of new cells. Tumors in the thigh/leg could be derived from many different types of tissues. One of the most common types of thigh masses would be lipomas. These are benign accumulations of fatty tissue that can be treated by surgical removal. Read more

Why would it matter if when pushing down on thigh tumor it hurts to extend leg? When the doctor did not push down on the tumor no pain with extending

Not unusual: Sounds like pressure on the tumor produces pain when you extend your leg but not when it is not pressed. Sounds like it is possibly pressing on a nerve or a nearby sensitive structure - a bursa possibly? Read more

Having a 3.5 tumor removed on upper thigh. What type of tumor or fatty tumor can it be? Surgeon says most likely lipoma but the pain is unusual.

Having a 3.5 tumor removed on upper thigh. What type of tumor or fatty tumor can it be? Surgeon says most likely lipoma but the pain is unusual.

Ur Dr. Knows Best: If your surgeon thinks it is a lipoma, that's more-than-likely correct. Although often painless, angiolipomas (benign) can cause pain. Also, if the lipoma is under the fascia next to muscle, it may cause pain. I'm sure the surgery will go well and you'll know with 100% certainty what it is. Good luck! Read more

Large egg size/shape lump very deep inside my left upper inside leg/thigh. No pain, but feels like I can move it around. Fatty tumor or what? Remove?

Check it out: Most likely fatty tumor or fibrous tumor, less likely possibly femoral hernia. See a general surgeon. Sounds like nothing serious but in general if we can't get a tissue sample, we are not 100% sure of what it is. Don't lose sleep over it but get it checked out. Read more

See a specialist: There is a condition called lipomatosis in which multiple lipomas are found. It carries no cancer risk. There are other conditions like neurofibromatosis, where there are multiple subcutaneous masses, but there is a risk of cancer. You should see a specialist, like an orthopaedic oncologist, to establish a diagnosis. Read more

Burning sensation down front of both thighs to the knee. Is this a sign of something worrisome? Convinced I have a brain tumor or MS

Burning sensation down front of both thighs to the knee. Is this a sign of something worrisome? Convinced I have a brain tumor or MS

You ARE a worrier: Your symptoms are absolutely, totally, completely not typical of either MS or a brain tumor. Stop making these seven-league jumps to conclusions. It sounds like bilateral meralgia paresthetica. Bilateral suggests a condition like being very overweight or very underweight or having some undiagnosed predisposition to mononeuropathy. See a doctor & get it checked out. Read more

Swollen lump on thigh half the size of my palm. Unsure how long it's been there. Looks like a contusion or swelling but no bruising? Tumor?

Swollen lump on thigh half the size of my palm. Unsure how long it's been there. Looks like a contusion or swelling but no bruising? Tumor?

Concerning...: Are you having any other symptoms such as fevers, unexplained weight loss, new onset fatigue? Any lumps anywhere else on your body? Is the lump tender to the touch? Something that large, in that location that does not look like a bruise, and you don't remember injuring that area would make me want to get it examined by a doctor sooner than later. May be nothing, but hard to tell from here. Read more

Fatty: Fatty tumors (or lipomas) are usually not hard. They are usually soft and squishy. If you have a hard mass along your lower panty line that could be a chronically inflammed inguinal lymph node. Can't determine what they are through this venu. Recommend that a family doctor or dermatologist examine you and determine what the lesions are. Read more

Urgent, doctors :' (my mom has metastases liver cancer, lung and bone nearby left thigh found tumors. Just found out few days ago, is stage 4. How?

This is too: Common. Some cancers are quiet until they infest other organs, and it is these organs working poorly or hurting that causes the cancer to be known. Some cancers can have life extended by treatment (prostate and breast), others can be treated to relieve symptoms. But for most, it means time to focus on comfort and symptom relief rather than rigorous treatment. Read more
