Inner Eye Swelling
My daughters inner eye is swelling and it is quite tender. Inside her inner eye it is red and she has a lump which is uncomftarble. What might this be?
Is it the eye, or: the eyelid? If it's the eyelid, it sounds like it could be a stye or chalazion. These are blocked glands in the eyelid. The treatment is ibuprofen or acetaminophen and warm compresses. If it is the eye, not the lid, please see her pediatrician or eye doctor. Depends: Is the swelling of the lids? Is is painless? Swelling can be a reaction to focal infection, or an allergic response. It might also be hereditary angioedema. Or it may be fluid excess from heart failure. If the swelling is behind the eye it may be infectious. What seems to be swelling may be thyroid infiltration or a tumor.
