Inhaler For Pneumonia
Had pneumonia a month ago, cleared but never stopped coughing, chest is now rattling when coughing. Inhaler for cough doesn't help. What now?
See MD: Most liklely you have " reactive airway " with some degree of bronchospasm - very common after infection is over. Just inflamed airways and irritable. There may be some inflammation - mucus and so producing ' rattle". If no fever and in general feeling better - you may needs t use for short time " steroid inhaler " for calming down airway inflammation. But see your MD firs to examine you.See 1 more doctor answer
My son has had pneumonia before I belive he's havinf reacurred pneumonia do I take him to the hospital right away he has an inhaler but does not help?
Why has my breathing gotten very difficult? Could it be a sign of pneumonia? It's not my asthma because my inhalers were unhelpful.
Maybe: A person with asthma can worsen for many reasons, a lung infection like pneumonia is one. Severe asthma attacks may be less responsive to inhalers, this does not mean that asthma is not responsible, just that the airway inflammation is bad enough that it needs additional therapy plus the inhalers. Someone with this problem needs to seek medical attention, and if severe symptoms should go to the er.See 1 more doctor answer
Can I exercise while I have walking pneumonia? I've been on meds and an inhaler for 4 days and the only thing bothering me is a slight cough
Yes: This generally means they do not consider you at much risk for being hospitalized and should respond to outpatient treatment. Your lungs must work well enough to sustain any exercise over baseline activities. You can push through your exercise routine and back off if you get dizzy/feel faint or realize your body is telling you to slow down.See 1 more doctor answer
Talk to your doctor: Chest pain can be caused from many causes from something as severe as a heart attack to muscle soreness from an activity that involves chest muscles. All of these different causes suggest different treatment strategies. Call 911 if the chest pain happens along with shortness of breath, is new and severe, lasts more than a few minutes or gets worse when you do a physical activity.See 1 more doctor answer
Short of air o2 low 90's cough I taste snot chest discomfort hard to take my inhalers wheezy is thus signs of pneumonia?
No need to guess: If your asthma is not controlled and you can't breath - you need medical eval. Take care.
I had very few asthma related problems.3 months ago I had walking pneumonia. Treated. Now dependent on albuterol inhaler 1-4x qd. Why? Will it change?
Infection trigger: "walking pneumonia" refers to a pneumonia due to mycoplasma pneumoniae. This can trigger an asthma attack and possibly increase the risk of someone to develop asthma. Treatment with macrolide antibiotics can improve asthma control only in those patients who have evidence of infection in their airways. If albuterol is needed more than twice a week, a change in asthma treatment is needed.See 1 more doctor answer
99.2temp cough chest congestion not always productive, feels like need to. Chest/back/rib px&soa 3rdabx, inhaler, steroids-cxr o2 ok feel worse pneumonia?
Options: You have a complicated list of symptoms. These symptoms could be present from either a bacterial or a viral infection. If your chest x-ray was read normal it is unlikely that you have pneumonia. Sometimes sinus disease or a viral bronchitis can persist for a long time. It is probably most prudent to follow up with the doctor that has prescribed antibiotics and review your symptoms with them.
99.2temp cough chest congestion not always productive, feel like needs to. Chest/back/rib px&soa 3rdabx, inhaler, steroids-cxr o2 ok feel worse pneumonia?
Maybe, maybe not: Some of these symptoms are seen with pneumonia, such as cough, chest congestion, etc, but they may be seen with other problems such as bronchitis or asthma exacerbation. A normal chest xray is a factor against pneumonia but is not always 100% accurate. The best approach would be to discuss the situation with ones doctor and determine if there is an infection or non infectious lung issue.
I'm on Combivent, (albuterol and ipratropium) Albuterol inhaler PRN, Advair 500/50 & Singular. Is it a safe combo to be on long term? I have bad asthma and I'm prone to pneumonia
Yes...: This is a safe med combo for treatment of asthma. You should rinse your mouth and spit it out after every Advair dose to prevent thrush, a complication of inhaled steroids. If your asthma exacerbations decrease over time, it is possible that your meds can be reduced (under doctor's supervision) but this combo is safe long-term. Be sure to never smoke!
After chest X-ray diagnosed acute bronchitis ant+inhaler given 3 days still out of breath, fever, normal? Pneumonia? No smoker or asthma.
See your doctor: You need to be reevaluated. See your doctor as soon as you can. You may have a viral illness or complication of bronchitis.
Diagnosed with small airway disease. Born 27.5 weeks, on vent and pneumonia and pulmonary edema as baby. Had pft. Chronic coug. Tightness in chest when not on inhaler. Nonsmoker. What does this mean?
Association: Very premature children (those born before 32 weeks' gestation) have higher asthma risk -- almost three times that of children born at full term for asthma as young adults. In one study adults age 25 to 35 yrs old had over twice incidence of asthma than adults of full term infants. There is association but not definite cause and effect.See 1 more doctor answer
Do I have the flu or walking pneumonia? I been coughing/phlegm and sneezing/wheezing. Headaches/coughing. I use my albuterol inhaler/otc meds. Help me
Would need an exam..: To answer your question an exam and more history would be needed. At the very least it sounds like you have a viral URI or allergies. If you are requiring your albuterol more than every 4-6 hours or the symptoms are persisting or getting worse at all, make an appointment to be seen or a consult appointment here on healthtap to better determine if an in person doctor visit is needed.
The dr hav 2 inhalers for my almost pnumonia. One is dulera (formoterol and mometasone) n my just in case one. How would I know if I need rescue inhaler?
Respiratory symptoms: The rescue inhaler is most likely albuterol which is a quick acting inhaler to open bronchial airways. The symptoms of bronchospasm include shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness and a persistent dry or slightly wet cough. If your symptoms are well controlled the rescue medication is usually not needed.See 1 more doctor answer
I keep getting phnemonia why? And what do I do to help it! I have taking the inhaulor and z pack and still been in bed for about 4 weeks still bad
I have pnemonia & have already used the enhailer & nebulizer & am having trouble breathing my heart is beating fast what do I do I am 17
Good: Good morning, your inhaler and nebulizer medications (depending on which type they are) often can make you feel jittery and can make your heart beat faster. However, you are having difficulty breathing, that is quite another matter. Please let your parents know right away. I recommend that you be seen at the emergency room as your pneumonia may have taken a turn for the worse.
Really bad cough, wheezing am on cough medicine and antibiotics and steriod inhaler. I'm coughing up green stuff could be pneumonia?
Go to your doctor: If you are having respiratory infection and wheezing, both have to be treated appropriately. Pneumonia is a diagnosis by xr, with a clinical presumptive diagnosis. You have to be diagnosed fully and treated fully, so go back to your doctor as you probably need more treatment than you currently have.
