Can I wait 2 months for an inguinal hernia repair or should I ask for the surgery sooner?

It depends on....: ...The size of the hernia and it's potential for bowel to get "incarcerated" within the sac. If the hernia is small and easily reducible, there should be no problem waiting a few months. The best judge of this would be the surgeon who saw you--i am certain they would have an opinion. Good luck! ...Read more

Is itok to return to office work 3 days after open inguinal hernia repair surgery?

Office job hernia: Yes. I would let you return to work 3 days following hernia repair. I generally tell patients not to drive until they are pain free and feel that they can stomp their feet on the floor, so that they would be able to safely apply brakes in an emergency if needed. You may need to have someone drive you to work for the first few days you go back to work. ...Read more

Post-op issues: If it is edema/swelling from the surgery, that may go away with medication and time and monitoring the area. If it is a hydrocele, it may need surgery, as...
