It could be: Genital lesions must be visualized to determine the cause. What you describe sounds like an infection of some sort. Herpes is one possibility but there are others. Consider seeing an Obgyn or attaching an image in a virtual visit with a Healthtap in your state to narrow down the cause. ...Read more

Ingrown Hair (Definition)

Our hair follicles are meant to erupt and to grow straight out of the skin. Often, a hair may turn into the channel out of which it should grow, and penetrates the skin, causing swelling and irritation. This may happen because of blockage or with very curly hair. These are not always a problem unless the hair does not erupt and then possibly leads to infection ...Read more

Treatment: Simple cleansing with soap and water followed by a topical otc antibiotic ointment at least twice a day should help healing. If it worsens, oral antibiotics can help. If there is surrounding redness and pain, you may need topical or systemic antibiotic treatment. See your doctor or an emergency room, especially if the infection is worsening or if you are having fever and chills. ...Read more

Bartholin cyst: What you described suggests a Bartholin cyst, due to blockage of the duct of gland normally present at the opening of the vagina. It is of no concern, unless it gets infected. Shaving your private parts is not a good idea and it makes you more likely to get infection. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless. Get HPV vaccine. ...Read more
