Inflammation Of The Thyroid Drugs
Hi doctors, , why hasimoto' s thyroiditis is painless, even there's a chronic inflammation, ? Thanks
Inflammation is the body's attempt at self-protection; the aim being to remove harmful stimuli, including damaged cells, irritants, or pathogens - and begin the healing process. Inflammation is part of the complex biological response of vascular tissues to harmful stimuli, such as pathogens, ...Read more
Hi, I have had swallowing issues for months just diagnosed with thyroiditis and high thyroid antiboddies, can this cause that?
Mechanism: The thyroid has 2 months of thyroid hormones stored inside it. When it gets inflamed (thyroidtis), it can't hold on to the thyroid hormones and the hormones leak out into the blood stream. That's why you have high level at the beginning. Once all the hormone is leaked out, there is no hormones left and the body has to make the hormone again which is why you become low. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have hashimoto's thyroiditis with 2 nodules on my thyroid and had a sudden drop in vitamin d- what's going on?
No need for panic: Small thyroid nodules is frequently encountered in people with hashimotos. These nodules seem to be small and of no clinical significance unless size is greater than 1 CM and/or worrisome findings per radiologist. Drop in vitamin d is not related but is certainltly of importance and i'm glad you were screened for. Your sun exposure is likely inadequate and depending on levels you may need suppleme. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Had u/s of thyroid, showed Thyroiditis, enlarged cervical lymph nodes, thyroid labs are normal, I already take synthroid , now pth 119, related?
Thyroiditis: I suspect that you are being treated for Hashimoto's thyroiditis which has a nonspecific enlarged thyroid gland seen on ultrasound. Prominent cervical lymph nodes are not unusual in these cases but generally don't appear otherwise pathologic. Synthroid keeps your thyroid hormone levels normal. Your elevated PTH suggests a parathyroid adenoma which is best evaluated by an endocrinologist or surgeon ...Read more

Throiditis: Is inflammation of the thyroid gland and yes with a swollen neck and a nodule you do have an inflammatory condition. Neck u/s done 4 globus sensation showed borderline enlarged thyroid, suggests underlying thyroiditis. Is it cause of globus? Is serious? Labs normal
Test results: An important part of tests (ultra-sound, etc) is understandable feedback and recommendations - incl "Don't worry". Ask about anything you'd worry about otherwise. Normal labs are good and suggest it's not serious but thyroiditis might call for check-ups from time to time. Ask. Best! ...Read more
I have hashimoto's thyroiditis and want to have a baby. What are the chances my baby will be born with a thyroid disorder?
Very low: Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the most common cause for low thyroid in the us. Although your baby would be at a higher risk for developing autoimmune thyroid disease at some time in his/her life, it is very unlikely that there would be a problem at birth. You need to make sure that your thyroid levels are normal throughout pregnancy to optimize the growth and development of your baby. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have acute thyroiditis , all thyroid levels&blood tests are perfect. However I have some pain in my right and left sides und my ribs, is this related?
No: I am going to assume that your thyrioditis is de quervain's subacute granulomatous thyroiditis. This almost always goes away without causing much trouble. Rib pain's a different story, and if it is in the center of your chest, is crushing, prevents you from sleeping or doing the other things you enjoy, or takes your breath away, a phyiscian's office visit is in order. ...Read more
Is thyroiditis (based on u/s that showed borderline thyroid enlargement /goiter) related to thyroid cancer? If no nodes were seen? Have globus symptom
Globus: You started with a globus sensation which may be due to an anxiety disorder. You had a thyroid U/S done which sounds to be NORMAL. thyroiditis is not diagnosed on ultrasound, its based on hormone levels. You have no goiter or nodules. You have a normal exam. You need to address the globus. You can get an ENT exam with laryngopharyngoscopy and talk to your doctor about treating anxiety or OCD. ...Read more

I do not have a thyroid. Could I still get post partum thyroiditis? 106 lbs, no thyroid, tsh-20.76 (med inc to 125 mcg 5 days ago), 10 mo post partum
Thyroiditis: If your thyroid was surgically removed, you will have a high thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level all the time. TSH is a feedback hormone, so it goes UP when you do not have enough active thyroid hormone in your body. Pregnancy alters thyroid status, so it is common to have changing thyroid replacement needs around the time of pregnancy. But this is not from thyroid inflammation anymore. ...Read more

What does it mean I had thyroid cancer and I had a thyroidectomy had radiation therapy was diagnosed with hashimoto thyroiditis now I have 2cm growth?
Biopsy: If you have hashimoto's thyroiditis, then your thyroglobulin antibodies are elevated making it harder to use thyroglobulin to monitor for thyroid cancer recurrent. With a new growth, you will need a biopsy to make sure the cancer is not coming back. At this point, you should have an endocrinologist, a surgeon and possibly a radiation oncologist on your team. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
TSH 4.98 with T4 level at .93 ordered scan found a 7mm hyperechoic nodule says does contain vascular flow. Impression heterogeneous hypervascular thyroid suggestive of thyroiditis. Small low suspicion nodule on right. Should I have specialist check?
Wouldn't hurt.: There are a lot of findings in the ultrasound. It may all come out to nothing but without knowing your full medical history & your symptoms, it wouldn't be appropriate to advise you in this forum. You could consider HealthTap Prime to engage in more live dialogue with a physician, but it would not hurt to have an Endocrinologist (specialist) go over your symptoms & ultrasound report regardless.
