The swabs themselves can cause irritation and trauma and may cause pain as the canal and especially the ear drum are quite pain sensitive. Since your middle: Ear cannot be "blocked " with a hole in the drum it must mean the external ear is blocked with wax (cerumen) This must be removed by a Health Professional since irrigating the ear with a hole in the drum could be harmful! \
