Two pap smear acus.did colpscopy.three lesions found and cervix inflamed.biopsies normal, repeat smear due 3 mths.wht reason x ascus then?

ASCUS

Colposcopy
There is no answer to your question. ASCUS means changes of 'UNKNOWN' significance. If there was a reason then they would be able to tell you. It surely sounds like your physician is treating you correctly.

Dr. Wendy Askew answered:

A wk b4 period I had bright red spotting. Doc said cervix was inflamed and did pap smear. Now I am 6 days late. -tive hometest. Could I be pregnant?

Possible, but

Cervix
A negative test is pretty accurate. There are many things that can cause spotting and late period, so if you repeat the test and it is still negative, then it's probably due to something else.

Dr. Marina Landa answered:

My doctor found blood on my cervix during a pap smear?

Result of PAP smear

Blood
Blood on cervix can be seen in time of period, can be seen because cervix has erosions or ulcers. Evaluation of your PAP smear is very important to rule out cervical intraepithelial lesion, low or high grade. Endometrial cells in women after 40 y. should be reported for appropriate follow up ( to rule out endometrial hyperplasia or neoplasia).

Will a pap smear show if there are abnormal cells of the cervix?

Yes

Pap_smear
Yes, a pap smear is a routine screening test recommended for all females of certain age groups. During a pap smear, your physician swabbed your cervix and has sent the specimen to the pathologist who will assess for the presence of any abnormal cells. Speak to your doctor about the test results.

How can pap smear be abnormal if no cervix? Does hyst remove risk from hpv?

Vaginal pap

Cancer
The HPV virus has many subtypes. The transition zone of the cervix is where they are most active, but they can also act on the wall of the vagina. Vaginal dysplasia and cancer are more rare than cervical, but they still are screened for using a pap smear.
