Mild side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, headache hypertension and restlessness, dangerous side effete include decrease in white blood cells, heart arrhythmia, adrenal disorder, several neurologic syndromes.Some pediatricians have been trying Erythromycin as a agent to speed up gastric emptying. Need PCP evaluation: not enough information for reason why ranitidine prescribed. Infant needs a thorough PE to evaluate problem. I suggest stopping the ranitidine to exclude possible side effects, unless aspiration following feeding has occurred. Many babies erp up a lot but grow normally. ...Read more

I gave my baby 3 ml  of Zantac (ranitidine) instead of 1.5 ml. Is that to much?

Baby should be fine: 3ml =45mg of Zantac (ranitidine) and it maybe a bit high for your baby, but should be fine. In adult, we often give double the dose for single-daily dose (i.e. 150 twice/day, or 300 once daily). You can skip the next dose and i would not expect any problem. More questions: I suppose his initial diagnosis is reflux since he's on prevacid (lansoprazole). Pyloric stenosis is fairly common in male infants especially in the first born ones, usually manifesting itself after the first month of age.
