Child ear pain?

Child ear pain?

Ear Pain Child: Ear pain is extremely common in childhood and although it is distressing, is usually caused by a minor infection that will resolve on its own. It can be VERY painful, due to pressure inside the ear drum so treating with pain killers like paracetamol +/- ibuprofen is the main treatment. If fevers and pain are ongoing for more than 3 days, then we sometimes advise antibiotics. ...Read more

Ringing in ear after ENT removed hair from ear drum w/noyes forecps.Hurt bad jumped off table. Now he wants hearing aids?

Tinnitus in left ear decided to use ear drops. 9 days later ear full of wax after pulling out the goo , still ringing ear still blocked :-( syringe?

Syringe may help: They sell cleaning kits for ears in the pharmacies which have large syringes. I always advise to use warm soapy water for these types of cleanings. At the same time, I advise caution when doing anything with the ear canal & if you're not sure of what you are doing or if things are going the right way then you should stop and see your doctor. Much better that than to cause any sort of complication. ...Read more

Looked in baby's ear and ear drum is red on one ear he is teething and runny nose could it b ear infection or pressure?4 weeks ago on antibiotics

Looked in baby's ear and ear drum is red on one ear he is teething and runny nose could it b ear infection or pressure?4 weeks ago on antibiotics

Red doesn't diagnose: Red is but one thing we look at when visualizing an ear drum. Red alone does not an ear infection make. An ear drum can be red if child has fever, is crying, holding breath, etc. We also look at landmarks, how the light reflexes, whether the ear drum moves, whether there is fluid behind the drum. All the things together make the diagnosis. If you are concerned, best to have doc look to diagnose. ...Read more

Can loud noise (phone ringing next to ear of baby) hurt 8 day olds ears?

So, turn off the ringer, hold baby with head up 30 degrees & look at him when feeding. Put him face-up in his crib in his room when drowsy, but awake, to self-calm to sleep. See your Family Doc: It sounds to me like you have several issues going on at same time. Post-nasal drip could be from allergies which could lead to ear discomfort b/c Eustachian tube dysfunction. OTC antihistamines can often help. Seborrheic dermatitis is a separate condition (http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/seborrheic-dermatitis/basics/definition/con-20031872) as are your wet ears: otorrhea? infection? ...Read more

Ear wax is draining out of my son's ears. He is complaining of pain and "liquid" in his ears. He's had tubes. Is an ear infection beginning?

Hard to say: If he has had tubes in the past you know he is prone to infections. This may or may not be an early stage of an infection. I can't make much of wax draining but pain is worrisome. I would give him some ibuprofen for now & arrange to have it checked when convenient. ...Read more
