Index Finger Swollen And Painful
My index finger is swollen and painful I cant bend it much had x Ray was fine sometimes the finger looks purple supposed to have mri should I getdone?
Specialist: If you are not seeing a orthopedic hand specialist, I would do that. A detailed exam and appropriate studies will likely determine the cause. It is just that am MRI of a swollen finger is not usually real helpful as it can be nonspecific. So, unless it was ordered by a hand specialist, I would probably start there.
My right index finger is swollen and painful at the joint closest to the palm. I had cut that area about a month prior but it healed. Other hand ok.
Go see doc: It sounds like you have an infection and need to be on antibiotics. They can evaluate and see if this is correct or if there is something else wrong. You don't want to wait for this to get worse.

Babys hand crushed in door. Her pinky knuckle looked squished in and there was instantly a deep purple bruise on ring finger. Swollen now but playful.
Watch digit use: You can just watch. Generally if an infant guards or refuses to use the injured part further evaluation is definitely warranted. 1 concern would be if there is an injury to the growth plate. Kids are very resiliant and learn to adapt. I would watch overall use.

At this point likely: Best to be patient. The body is usually good at slowly ejecting foreign objects as skin both grows from within & sheds/worn away. Redness inflammatory reaction:? ed blood flow bringing in red & white blood cells; the WBCs will work to degrade & remove the foreign object. Thus as long as you can function well & minimal soreness, may be best to just the skin to slowly degrade & eject the material.

Get seen...: You need to be evaluated to check for a possible infection after a possible insect bite. Redness and pain is an indicator of infection and/or inflammation. However, this might require antibiotic treatment in order to get better. IF able please try to see a physician as soon as possible.
Woke up with pain in knuckles below index finger/pain in finger. Have been playing video games a lot. Now swollen/painful can't bend or fully extend?
Video triggerfinger?: It is possible you've developed the disease of young people in the 21st century (trigger finger caused by TOO MUCH video gaming). But to be sure there are other things that could cause pain and swelling in your finger so if after icing, Motrin for 3 days, and NO video games you're not better an examination would be in order. My index finger is swollen and won't fully extend or close when I make a fist. I also have a painful lump in my palm below the joint.?
Trigger finger: It sounds like you have a trigger finger. The tendon that flexes your index finger travels through tunnels or pulleys that keep the tendon close to the bone. Inflammation or masses on the tendon can get caught in the tunnel system preventing movement, causing more inflammation and discomfort. Anti inflammatory medication may help but you should see a hand surgeon.

A fracture in the finger can be nondislplaced meaning everyting moves well and is lined up so one does not necessarily have a great deformity, joint fractures or fractures in the plane of motion with swelling may not loo obvious except for pain and swelling.
