Be patient: A contusion, or bruise, will initially spread as the blood from the injury travels underneath the skin. Eventually, this will stop, and the body will resorb the blood, although it can take several weeks or even months. There is not much you can do to stop the spreading, but it is not serious. It is impossible to guess what it may be, I tell my patients to always have things like that examined, and if necessary sampled or biopsied. More info: Did these appear suddenly all at once? Are they itchy? Are they red? If so they could be hives or insect bites. Are they painful nodules? Hives will clear in a day but reappear elsewhere. A physician will have to diagnose them unless allergy medications clear them rapidly. Read more
