How to increase your RDW level?

How to increase your RDW level?

Why do you ask?: The reference range on RDW, as for most labs, is set so that a few percent of folks fall outside on either end. A low RDW is never a problem. There is no advantage to trying to change it. Frequent visits to the blood bank are good for you as a public service, and are likely to raise RDW. ...Read more

How can I increase my RDW level?

You don't want to: Rdw means reed blood cell distribution width is a measure of the variation of red blood cell (rbc) volume. Usually rbcs are a standard size of about 6-8 ?m. Certain disorders, however, cause a significant variation in cell size. Certain disorders, like iron or vit B12 deficiency- cause a significant variation in cell size- thus will increase rdw. It is used to differentiate the cause of anemia. ...Read more

My RDW level is 19.3 do this mean I have polyecima?

Absolutely not: It's got nothing to do with polycythemia. It means that your red cells vary in size. This often means nothing whatsoever, especially if it's the only blip on your lab slip and your iron status is normal on your chemical profile. Rdw generally rises in iron deficinecy before anemia appears, so it may be a heads up. ...Read more

Whats RDW levels have to be too determin polysemia condition?

Whats RDW levels have to be too determin polysemia condition?

This is a mistake: Rdw is not a factor in the diagnosis of polycythemia. Please get with your physician; you are clearly worried and have a right to a straight explanation. Rdw means nothing in isolation; if it's the only abnormality on a CBC it may be a heads-up to review iron status. ...Read more

What does an elevated RDW level mean if all other levels are within normal range? RDW level is 15.1%

Really, nothing: Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on either side. Keep this in mind. In iron deficiency before anemia begins, high RDW is the first change. Could this be a factor? ...Read more

Is there a connection between creatine and RDW level increasing?

Is there a connection between creatine and RDW level increasing?

Maybe: The creatinine rise means the kidneys are functioning less well. Poor kidney function leads to anemia, and the high RDW goes along with a component of iron deficiency. More testing will be needed to sort all this out. ...Read more

What could a high RDW indicate when all other levels of a CBC are in the normal range?

RDW: High RDW indicates increased variability in red cell size, called anisocytosis, which is commonly found in nutritional deficiency such as iron, folate, (folic acid) and vitamin b12. High RDW alone is not specific. Combination of MCV and rdw, retic can be more suggestive. Sometime increased rbc frament can also give high rdw. Thus a blood smear review is usually helpful for high rdw. ...Read more

Cause of elevated RDW level of 15.4% and normal MCV level in blood?

Cause of elevated RDW level of 15.4% and normal MCV level in blood?

Different thing: You could have more than one conditons like low in iron and low in vitamin B12 for instance- that would make normal MCV and high rdw. Or you could be just in the very beginning or mild case of low iron- that would present the same in cbc. Go to see your md and get checked. ...Read more
