Started levothyroxine 50 mcg approx 3 weeks ago. So far no change in energy level /muscle fatigue but have increased appetite and return of my menses. These two are good signs it is working, correct?

Started levothyroxine 50 mcg approx 3 weeks ago. So far no change in energy level /muscle fatigue but have increased appetite and return of my menses. These two are good signs it is working, correct?

Good signs: Yes, appetite and return of menses are good signs that a benefit of medication is occurring. However, a blood draw and result review is essential to complete and monitor your progress. The tsh/thyroid stimulating hormone level goal is around 1.0. Okay to ask your doc what your level is and how long to get there. Good luck. ...Read more

Soon: I have to admit, I am always a bit skeptical of the diagnosis of "bronchitis" which is an illness which does not really have a strict medical definition. How fast you get better depends on what it was you really had... If you had a chest cold you should be better any day now, if it was walking pneumonia (a mild type of pneumonia caused by the mycoplasma bacteria) it can take a week or two more. ...Read more

No: Dhea is metabolized to cortisone, estrogen and testosterone -- and you can';t control which one is goes to. Also, there is no medical indication to take it in the first place, and most of the dhea supplements have little dhea in them. Worry about your health, not a drug test.
