2 mo. post op pilonidal cyst. Wound has not fully healed. There is yellow fluid inside wound, redness around site, and burning pain. Infection? Rash?
Possibly: Only a visual inspection with cultures will reveal the true nature of what's going on but my money would be on an infectious entity with what you're saying. Get an appointment back with the doctor who did the surgery and see how he/she wants to approach things. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Yes, if immediate: It is normal to weep a small amount or watery fluid or slight blood-tinged watery fluid IMMEDIATELY after laser vein surgery (within the first couple of hours). This is the result of the tumescent anesthesia leaking through the laser puncture site in the skin or from the puncture sites made for injecting the numbing fluid (the Xylocaine (lidocaine) / Novacaine fluid used to numb the area leaking out). ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Healing: All incisions/scars during healing have some degree of itching. This will rapidly fade if due to the surgery. If persistent after two weeks, then the itching comes from something else like allergy. Check at that time with your ophthalmologist. ...Read more

Boil in inner thigh, treat w warm compress & amox, less pain & redness, no draining of pus bcos wound healed, but ders hard part below the skin,is it ok?
Residual infection: The hard, leathery, often darkened skin @ the site of a boil is residual inflammation from the skin infection. The skin should soften over time, but cd leave a scar. I wd say at this point, it's normal. But watch for fevers, more drainage, or worsening symptoms that may mean the infection (boil) is coming back. Also get checked for MRSA & diabetes (which predispose to boils) if this is not 1st one ...Read more

My csection incision smells but no redness, infection or opening and its been a month but my tummy lays over the scar which is low what's the reason?
Air: If your abdomen lies over your c-section incision, the area can't get air and stays warm and moist leading to the growth of skin bacteria. It may not cause an infection in the scar because the skin has healed enough that they don't get in but the anaerobic bacteria that grow in places that are warm, moist and low on oxygen tend to stink. ...Read more

The redness on my incision site doesn't seem to be going away. Is there any antibiotic cream that i can use to help with the redness?
Surgical follow-up: If there's redness that you think is abnormal - you need to let your surgeon know about this. They usually have some sort of routine follow up scheduled after a surgery-but I would call now and let them know you need to be seen sooner rather than later. You don't want to 'sit' on a wound infection that could worsen without the proper treatment. Surgeons are usually happy to know about these things ...Read more
I had lap surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago and there is still a hole where the incision was made and a foul smelling odor with redness and puffy for about a week now should I consult with my surgeron?
Sounds like a plan: In general, any surgical wound with a foul-smelling odor requires a recheck by the surgeon, or by the doctor covering the surgeon if the surgeon is not available. If such a patient has trouble finding help, she can go to the ER to have the ER doctor check the odor, look for discharge, and see if there is a wound infection. ...Read more

Several weeks: You should look out for increased pain, swelling, fever, blistering, or fluid draining from the wound. These could indicate a deeper infection and should prompt you to go back to the doctor. The redness should resolve in several weeks as long as there is no other problem. ...Read more
