Incision Pain After Gallbladder Surgery
How soon after gallbladder surgery should incisions become less sensitive? Been 3 wks & they are not painful but sensitive & bumpy when I touch them
Gallbladder surgery: 4-6 weeks recovery for nerve root regeneration.
The gallbladder is a sac-like structure located under the right lobe of the liver. It is attached to the common bile duct via the cystic duct. The gallbladder can store bile when the bile is not needed, and can squeeze bile into the bile duct and intestine for digestion when a person eats larger ...Read more
Is it normal to have severe burning and knots under a two week old incision sight for gallbladder surgery?
I had gallbladder surgery today and I just felt 2 lump / knots near the upper incision is this normal?
Had my gallbladder surgery 4 days ago. Notice a lump under incision not painful or hurt to the touch. Is this normal and when will it go away?
Post surgery: It is not unusual to have an incision which is not completely smooth. If there is no excessivew redness and you have no fevers, then it can probably wait until you have your postoperative visit with your surgeon. If not, call him immediately. Good luck.
After Gallbladder surgery I noticed a big red circle after surgery near incision, is it a sign of infection?
Redness: The question is whether this circle is a rash, irritation or skin/wound infection. The latter would have associated warmth, spreading redness, possible purulent discharge and possible tenderness. If it's simply a rash, apply a cortisone type ointment. If in doubt, have your surgeon examine you.
Feeling of an air bubble after gallbladder surgery 5 days ago between the top incision and the top right one. Like pressure in that one spot. Normal?
When was surgery?: For the first several weeks after surgery there can be some inflammation and "scar tissue" which presents as this. If there is redness increasing pain and/or discharge it may be infected. If it has been years since the surgery you may have a hernia there. Some cancers present as a mass in this area. There are so many things that it could be. You need to see a surgeon for a re-evaluation of this.
I'm four weeks post gallbladder surgery, my bra is rubbing against one of the incision sites making it red, swollen and sore?
Call your surgeon: Call your surgeon, try a different bra.
I had gallbladder surgery this morning I notice some white stuff on my incision. Itchiness and faint but thick red line below incision. This infection?
Possible infection: Was dermabond applied to any/all incisions? If so, you could have a dermatitis reaction to it, though an allergy is uncommon. Otherwise, yes, you may be manifesting an early cellulitis, or skin infection. If not on antibiotics, please notify your surgeon's office in am.See 1 more doctor answer
I had lap gallbladder surgery 2 weeks ago. The scar from the upper incision (healed & glue off) is very sensitive, and stings all the time. Help?
Had laproscopic gallbladder surgery; 4 incisions 3 days ago. Dr removed bandages but left gauze & waterproof bandage on belly button. Do I remove?
What will doctor do during gallbladder surgery follow up? After removing bandages, will he put anything on incision scars? There's no stitches/staples
Not likely: He will check the wound to be sure it is healing without infection or herniation. He will ask some questions regarding whether you are having diarrhea as some folks do after gb surgery. If so there is a medicine that can be given to treat the diarrhea. Should be a short visit. He will then tell you when he releases you to full activity.
Gallbladder surgery 2 weeks ago. Dr took off steri strips today. Can I put neosporin or hydrogen peroxide or vitamin oil on the incisions?
Sure: You can do what makes you feel better, but no studies have shown any of that stuff to aid in wound healing. At two weeks, the wounds are healed - hydrogen peroxide and neosporin aren't going to prevent an infection at this point. Vitamin e - there is anecdotal evidence that it helps wounds, however no solid data. If you were to use any of the three this far out, would do vitamin e.See 1 more doctor answer
Had gallbladder surgery and now I have a rash/hives on my stomach one of my incisions I have small blisters and its really itchy what can I do?
Contact doctor: From your description is seems that you have a skin allergy to some component of the dressing applied to the wound. It would be prudent to contact your doctor.
Walk: And move around. Use heat on the back. Do not sit or lay around too much as muscle tightness ; spasms will set in.
Depends: I do not know how long ago your surgery was. The first few weeks after gallbladder surgery there may be some gas and bloating or discomfort, possibly worse after eating fatty foods. That usually resolves. If pain is late after surgery recovery, may need to see your doctor. If the pain is getting severe and associated with nausea or vomiting early after surgery, then call and see your surgeon asap.
Light colored, loose and chunky stools along with lower right side rib cage pain after gallbladder surgery 2 weeks ago. Normal?
Yes: Your stools may take time to adjust to a new normal after gallbladder surgery, as you no longer have the bile salts being secreted into the intestine to assist with digestion. As for the R-sided rib pain in the area of the surgery, it is not uncommon to have some residual soreness from the procedure itself. If redness, fever, distention in setting of the soreness would prompt more urgent check-up.See 1 more doctor answer
