Some kids stop needing naps at all by 2 years, others still need it when they're school-age. Even some adults benefit from naps! whatever time your baby wakes up on his/her own from the nap is the right # of hours. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

6 month-old sleeps max. of 7 hrs/night, & takes no naps (literally, none) during day. Is this sufficient sleep for healthy cognitive development?
My 12 yr. Old son falls asleep doing schoolwork, homework, and chores; but is alert when watching t.V. Or playing video games, is this adhd?
Maybe: Tv and video games are geared for a 4 second attention span. Most 2 year olds have longer attention spans than that. The 4 second attention span keeps your son alert via a neural reflex. It also lowers his attention span for the real world. Research states of those who watch 1 hour a day 9% will lower their attention span to add levels. 2 hours lowers 18% and 3 hrs 27%. Limit both to 45 min/day. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Pain in the trachea and symptoms i catch a cold after intense physical activity. Running 6.5 kms per day four days by week. .What precautions should i?
Cold/Dry air: Typically this type of "pain" comes when air comes in quickly and doesn't pick up moisture to be gentle on your throat lining. Usually breathing slower or having a moist/wet handkerchief on your mouth to help humidify air coming in would be good. This is especially true if the airways are sensitive as in asthmatics and people with allergies. ...Read more

Child with fever, heart racing 2 yr old daughter. Rectal fever 105. Third day with fever. During day she plays, seems fine. Been on steady doses of tylenol and motrim. Currently doing cold presses, popsicles. Should we be at er? Her heart rate was at 150.
Since : Since your child's temp is up around 105f, you should either call her doctor or go to the emergency room. Fevers for the most part aren't dangerous and are just the body's natural reaction to fighting off an infection. Most of these infections are viral and may be accompanied by runny nose, sore throat, congestion, mild rash, or nothing at all. Since fevers aren't dangerous, we usually treat the fever with Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen just to make the child more comfortable as their body fights the illness. "red flags" that we look for with fever to indicate something more serious is going on are: -fevers that last 5 days or more -fevers persistently above 104f orally or 105f rectally -a child that acts very sick - very irritable or difficult to wake -difficulty breathing -vomiting, diarrhea, refusal to drink, or dehydration -a purple rash, esp on the legs -stiff neck -any complaints of pain such as the ear, throat, stomach or a joint as always, use your judgement. If you think that your child is ill, err on the side of caution and call your child's doctor. ...Read more
