I have been on alprazolam for about 4-5 yrs now because of my inability to sleep. I started at .25 mg & now @ 2 mg every night. I am afraid of long term use. How can I ween myself off yet still get sleep?

More info needed: Knowing your iron level, per cent saturation, and ferritin would be helpful. Also your hemoglobin pattern and mcv--size of red cells. Testicular akathisia: Not uncommon. Totally makes sense that you are having this also due to OxyContin/oxycodone withdrawal. Make sure you are taking a multivitamin & eating foods rich in B6 & polyunsaturated fats. Ask your supervising provider if s/he thinks propranolol would be helpful to relieve symptoms.
