On nexplanon, lots of brown bleeding also on Sprintec BC pill to regulate bleeding. What are the chances of this working?
As with Progesterone only contraceptives, continuous or irregular bleeding is seen quite often. We use combination pills (Estrogen and Progesterone containing) to give the uterine lining what it needs for stability. This is a common occurance with a common solution. Expect this to work, it usually does. ...Read more

I got nexplanon out and immediately took tri-sprintec the same day. It's been a week and two days, and I had sex today. Am I protected? Urgent!!!!
Yes most likely: Even though it is often recommended to use condoms or delay coitus during the first month of oral contraceptive pills, it usually takes about 7 days for oral contraceptive pills to block ovulation and reduce your risks of pregnancy. So by day 9, you were likely protected. If your Nexplanon was still effectively working at the time of its removal, your risks of pregnancy are probably even lower. ...Read more
On nexplanon and sprintec BC to regulate bleeding on placebo week, had sex, am I still protected because of my nexplanon?
Implanon/nexplanon: Assuming it was "fresh" and in date when implanted it will provide protection for its entire duration. These types of medications are tested to make sure they last the entire time its designed to be implanted. Long and short - NO. ...Read more
What do you mean: Do you mean, can the rod break and still function? I've never heard of a rod breaking in the skin. If that were to happen, I would return to the doctor or clinic that put the Nexplanon in and they would likely replace it and send a defective device back to the manufacturer. If you're speaking of a different kind of 'breakage' then consider rephrasing your question. Hope that helps! ...Read more
Doc could not locate implanon and left it in. He also put nexplanon in. What concerns she I have with it still in?
Should be removed: The manufacturers are absolutely adamant about having the devices removed once they have expired. There is the (rare) risk of it migrating into a muscle or other organ. The nexplanon's can be identified with sonographic evaluation (certain wavelengths are necessary) -or with mri. You may want to get a second opinion, and see if you can have the ultrasound done to locate the Implanon then remove. ...Read more

Will I be able to get pregnant right after the implant birth control (implanon, nexplanon) is removed? I want to be able to have a baby right away!
Patience.: Patience is a wonderful virtue that all parents and all prospective parents should develop, prior to getting pregnant. That means a person who says, "I want to be able to have a baby right away! " (with an exclamation mark), is not likely ready to have a baby. Patience is so important. That being said, one might ovulate weeks after removing the implant, but in real life, it is not very predictable. ...Read more

Implanon/nexplanon: Theoretically any symptoms you had with implanon will be the same with nexplanon. Having said that the symptoms you describe are side effects of progesterone only contraception such as the nexplanon. The symptoms are therefore expected side effects. Speak to your doctor. Perhaps there is another equally effective for you contraceptive. Maybe the nuvaring or OCPs if remembering daily meds is ok. ...Read more
Implanon works by: An implantable form of birth control, Implanon provides very effective (99.95%) birth control for at least 3 years. It is usually implanted under the skin in the upper arm. Implanon contains the hormone, etonogestrel (progestin), which is slowly absorbed into the body over a 3 year period. Etonogestrel causes a woman's body not to release eggs from the ovary, thus there is no egg to fertilize. ...Read more
