Impacted Sinuses Symptoms
I've been having lots of pressure in what I believe are my sinuses. Except that is the only symptom; pressure. I cough rarely but that's all.
Pressure alone: We have two sinuses located above our brows, two above our upper teeth, and several pairs astride the bridge of the nose. When sinuses are obstructed by infection and swelling, you may have pressure as your only symptom. The cough may be the result of "post nasal drip"- dripping from the back of your nose to the back of the throat. Saline sprays or decongestants may help by encouraging drainage.
Sinuses are air filled spaces in the head that have several proposed functions: 1. They serve as shock absorbers in cases of head trauma 2. Lighten the skull 3. Humidify and filter the air while also producing mucus 4. Play a role in vocal resonance. The head contains 4 paired sinus cavities: maxillaries (cheek) under the eyes, ethmoids (between the eyes), frontals (above ...Read more
Anxiety: Blocked sinuses can give you anxiety because of the difficulty in breathing.
ENT said: Your sinuses are clear. Was it based on an exam and Sinus Xray? What symptoms do you have? Best to discuss this with Healthtap doctor on call. Hope you feel well.
Inhaled/swallowed some pool water on accident today while swimming. Not much, burned sinuses. 16 y/o boy 10 hrs later no symptoms. Secondary drowning?
No, just as U said-: - inhaled chlorinated water. No symptoms later means all is fine.
Had pneumococcal bacteremia. Was told it was likely from my sinuses but help- im still confused as to how it got into blood when I had no symptoms?
Bacteria are everywh: Pneumococcal bacteria live everywhere in the aerodigestive tract, but predominantly in the upper airways. There's no way you can get rid of them. Most of the time, they cause no problems as your body can fight them off from invading; however, sometimes, somehow a few out of the billions of bacteria slipped into your bloodstream. Sinuses, throat, even stomach (with food) or nosebleeds can do it.
I used the flashlight test for my sinuses, I saw the light in my mouth, but I still have a lot of symptoms, does this mean I don't have blocked sinus?
Sore enlarged glands under jaw for 5 months no other symptoms. When get really upset sinuses become sore and no blocked. What is it?
Infection?: Lymph nodes (glands) usually enlarge when they work hard to fight off infections. Five months is a long time to go w/o checking w/ a doctor for the cause. There are other things under jaws - salivary glands, thyroid, etc. Have an exam - perhaps see an ENT specialist. Something is not right and it's not self-correcting so far. Best wishes!
Why would sinusitis be a symptom of LPR since LPR only causes stomach contents to go up the Larynx. Aren't the sinuses well above the Larynx?
Reflux and the sinus: Sinus disease is very much related to reflux and the upper airway. In fact the sinus disease makes the chronic sinus problems worse and makes them harder to treat and cure. There is a lot of literature in both the adult and pediatric subset of patients. Good luck and feel better.
I have a slight sour throat and stuffiness in my sinuses for few weeks now. These start in the morning and disappear in a couple of hours. I have absolutely no other symptoms. Could these be allergies?
"sour" or "sore"?: Either way, one consideration is acid reflux that is related to being supine. GERD can actually lead to involvement all the way up to the back of the throat while lying down. Allergy from dust mite, mold or animals certainly possible. Just realize that nasal and sinus tissues to tend to congest anyway - and becomes more noticeable with allergy, inflammation, medication, and also during migraines.See 2 more doctor answers
Cold flu symptoms for the last week with a cough, blocked sinuses. Stiff neck for over a week and fullness in ears. High fevers in last week.?
Had meningitis last year from bad sinuses. Flu symptoms recently, flu swab of nose. Can sticking the swab in nose cause new infection or meningitis?
Flu testing: When handled properly by a medical professional, the swab is taken from a sterile package, inserted to a specific depth, swirled, removed, and placed in a culture tube. When the flu test is performed this way, it should not cause infection. Of course, if someone drops the swab on the floor first, it could pick up germs which might then cause infection. I hope you feel better soon.
Treated for bacteremia from sinuses. Infection gone, blood just rechecked weeks after. Still feel bad flu symptoms/weak. Can it be related to heart?
Mgt: Since you are recovering from a bacterial infection of the bloodstream, it is important to rest, stay well hydrated and to monitor your temperature. It can take weeks to recover. If you are not feeling well, an appointment may help to rule out other causes.
The left side of my jaw is swollen for two days now, my throat does not hurt nor are my sinuses or anything acting up. There are no other symptoms.
Have you ever heard of primary tuberculosis in sinuses? I have many terrible symptoms that point to TB or something like tb. My symptoms started in my sinuses, now in the back of my neck, back of head, spine, muscles and now starting in my joints. When
It's possible: Tuberculosis can be a systemic disease meaning it may involve more than one system in your body. Lungs are usually primary but it may involve any organ or tissue. Some of your symptoms, if you truly have tb, sound like it may involve the central nervous system, i.e. Brain, spinal cord. Sinus involvement is questionable. My suggestion is get an examination to evaluate the nature of your symptoms.See 1 more doctor answer

What is the common ingredient besides alcohol of wine, beer, cider and some whiskey? When I drink one of them my nasal mucosa and sinuses are very swollen. I have also polyps in all sinuses. A year ago I could drink these drinks without any symptoms.
Sulfite Sensitivity: Sulfite sensitivity can develop by people. Beer, wine and cider may contain sulfites. Whiskey does not, but the mixers used to make mixed drinks may contain sulfites, especially drinks with dry citrus, such as sour mixers. Reactions can range from mild nasal/sinus reactions to more severe including wheezing and difficulty breathing.See 2 more doctor answers
I have mild pressure in the bridge of my nose in between my eyes. I have a fogginess in my head that resembles dizziness, but not quite dizziness. Also sometimes pressure in my temples. I've had these symptoms for about a week. Could this be Sinuses?
Acute sinusitis: Common symptoms include purulent nasal discharge, nasal congestion, facial pain/pressure. Dental pain may be reported. Common colds and environmental allergies are risk factors for sinusitis. Symptoms that are present for 10 days could indicate a bacterial infection.See 1 more doctor answer
Is smelling smoke a symptom of a brain tumor a myth? Had CT scan 2 years ago for phantom smells. Everything normal. Now constant smell of smoke x2 days. Dry sinuses? No other neuro symptoms.
See your PCP: Myth, or no myth, it warrants further investigation. Smelling unusual smells that aren't present like smoke is not normal. So the first person to start a dialogue with is your pcp. S/he will be able to advise you further, and provide a referral to see a neurologist, if that's needed. Right now it needs to be documented, especially if you're smelling it full-time.See 1 more doctor answer
No typical symptom: Try irrigating the nose twice a day with rinse like nettie pot or something similar and using a saline spray a few times a day like ocean--this should really help symptoms when used for a week or more---i do this myself.
Does smoke inhalation cause symptoms similar to those of your sinuses draining? Like chest congestion, stuffy nose, yellow/greenish mucus? Asthma?
