My left hand first finger knuckle burning and sharp pain. There is no redness or swelling. Sudden onset two days ago, with no relief even after rest?

More info?: This could be gout, though there would usually be redness. Rheumatoid arthritis comes to mind but usually no sudden onset and generally more joints that one small finger joint. It would be good to know if there's been any recent trauma, spider bite, stick with a thorn? Does finger ever get stuck when bent? ...Read more

Early Trigger finger: Sounds like the early stages of a trigger finger, before it starts to catch. See if you have a tender spot on your palm, at the base of your pinky where there's a bony bump. Nsaids might help if this is the case. An orthopaedic or hand surgeon can check it out and see if an injection is appropriate. ...Read more

Raynauds: Raynauds is one potential diagnosis. With Raynauds the vessels in the hands and feet spasm in response to either cold or stress. Another is an exaggerated stress response similar to blushing or a red neck. You can first try to learn stress relieving techniques such as meditation and deep breathing and see if that improves the frequency of occurrences. Smoking increases frequency of both btw ...Read more

My knuckles and fingers started getting red and dry a few years, especially in the winter. Is this this just dry hands or something else?

My knuckles and fingers started getting red and dry a few years, especially in the winter. Is this this just dry hands or something else?

Sounds like my hands: This sounds like dry skin. The best thing to do is to apply good quality hand lotion frequently, and wear gloves when you are outside. Also be sure to wear gloves if you wash dishes. Arthritis symptoms include pain and stiffness, but what you are describing sounds like dry, chapped skin. The same thing happens to me every winter! ...Read more

I have lines on the back of my hands but these lines are very red and sting as well as my knuckles are rough and wide with lots of line What's going n?

Dryness?: There are lines on the hands of every one at the knuckles. This is due to the skin folding when the fingers are out straight or not bent. This will become more prominent and red when the skin is very dry. What do you do for a living.? do you have your hands in excess water? Do you use too much alcohol sanitizer.? SEe your doctor for further guidance and in meantime use moisturizer ...Read more

Probably vascular: This "appearance" is probably a vascular (circulation) issue. There is certainly no reason for concern since I do not believe this is associated with any medical disorder (s) Try asking again and attach some photos!!
Hope this helps
BTW Is this related to COLD Temperature??? That may be significant!

Eczema will get you: At a very young age, and it continues throughout your life. Sometimes a certain lotion or chemical in the lotion will make it worse. Try to use different unscented moisturizers, even prescription ones, to see if it would help alleviate the problem. I would put the moisturizer on several times a day. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap. ...Read more

I have a red rash on my hand and knuckles its dry and burns. I think it's a allergic reaction. How long should I wait to see if it goes away.?

7-10 days?: But it is hard to say since it depends much on how severe the reaction has been. Most hand dermatitis are from irritant (soap, detergent, machine oil, frequent washing, frequent hand sanitizer usage etc) Try some topical hydrocortisone cream for a few days and use only unscented soap. Apply hand lotion often especially after washing hands. See dermatologist if not helpful. ...Read more

I have lots of small red lumps appeared on knuckle joints on both hands some hurt if I knock them doc says blood tests are normal?

Lumps and bumps: Bumps and lumps on the hand or typically benign and not harmful in fact most hand bumps or lumps probably up to 99% however multiple bumps suggest either and rash or something systemic like for example gout with tophus but there are so many possibilities that it's probably best to go see your PCP first. Was pricked by rose thorn directly in my left hand index finger knuckle. Had to pull thorn out of glove! Immediately became red, painful, swollen, and loss of mobility. I am concerned it left fungal infection called sporotrichosis. What should I do?

Was pricked by rose thorn directly in my left hand index finger knuckle. Had to pull thorn out of glove! Immediately became red, painful, swollen, and loss of mobility. I am concerned it left fungal infection called sporotrichosis. What should I do?

Rose thorn injury: Well sporotrichosis is more of a problem LATER after the initial injury. That's because indeed it's a slow-growing fungus. What happened immediately was probably just the reaction to the injury. Ouch! I would clean it out, apply bacitracin, make sure you're up to date on tetanus then elevate the hand. Check with doc to make sure the joint (knuckle) was not penetrated by the thorn. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Red knuckles along with pain and mild swelling in index and middle finger in both hands, along with feet, knee, and shoulder joint pain on both sides.

Hard to diagnose: Without more history and physical exam, but would recommend you see your physician, have a thorough history and physical and discuss possibility of rheumatoid arthritis. This could be many things, but I would start there. I would also consider asking about infectious causes, such as viral illnesses or lymes disease. Best of luck and I hope this helps. ...Read more
