I'm worried because 3 days from now my stool is green on wheatgrass diet?

Green stool w/grass: The color of stool varies with foods, speed of emptying of the GI tract, medications & supplements ingested, gut flora (unique for each individual), additives (like blood), subtractions (like absent bile), infection, inflammation, & other factors. Consider what you ate in the last few days, but if the green color is unusual for you & persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, see your doctor. Read more

I had severe constipation yesterday which passed after taking some magnesium. Now my stool is green and mucousy is that normal?

I had severe constipation yesterday which passed after taking some magnesium. Now my stool is green and mucousy is that normal?

Normal result: The green mucusy stuff is probably bile washed out of the small intestine by the laxative effect of the magnesium--you make about 2 liters of it daily, but it is normally re absorbed in the small intestine unless you overstimulate it (laxatives) thus it enters the colon and may show up like this. My stool is green and black. Should I be worried?

My stool is green and black. Should I be worried?

Possibly.: Green stool can be related to the foods we eat. If green and runny it may be due to transitting the GI tract too quickly. If black and tarry with a foul odor - that would be a cause to worry as that could be related to GI bleeding. Black stools can also be due to certain medications (notably pepto bismal). Regardless, changes to stool habitus warrant assessment. Read more

What does it mean if your stool is green? Is there any make concerns or anything to be worried about?

What does it mean if your stool is green? Is there any make concerns or anything to be worried about?

Bile: The greenish color in stool is the breakdown product of the bile when it has not been in the gut long enough to go through a change to yellowish or brown. It is normal as is the loose consistency. Some digested material will take on a darker tint than others ; the germs in the gut will also impact the final product. I'd ignore the whole issue. I got hepatitis a at the begining of december and for new years I drank 5 glasses of wine. Liver now hurts and my stool is green. Is it serious? Scared

Hepatitis A: If your last liver enzymes were normal then the wine shouldn't have hurt your liver. If the liver is severely inflamed the stool usually is pale and the urine is brown. Have your liver enzymes tested to see where you stand. Read more

My bowel stool is green I have not eaten any green vegetables. I have about 5 bowel movements a day

My bowel stool is green I have not eaten any green vegetables. I have about 5 bowel movements a day

Hello.: Hello. I can't diagnose the reason for your green stool. However, the following may help to explain it. Bile helps to digest food. Bile is green. Normally, while the food is going through the large intestine, the stool tranforms from green to a brown color. However, if the stool transits too rapidly through the large intestine, liquids will not be adequately reabsorbed through the gut and there will not be adequate time for the stool to turn brown. Thus the stool will be liquid or moist and will remain green. P.S some supplements may also cause stool to turn green. Take care. Read more
