Bleeding with orgasm: Hi. I do not associate bleeding with orgasm, whether with or without penetration, with the use of Depo-P. Is the blood coming from out of the vagina? Your age is not stated. If you have unprotected sex twice while spoting/bleeding and the guy cums in you can you get pregnant but your also on Depo-Provera povera?
Depo is good: If you've been on depoprovera for more than a couple of weeks, you have excellent contraception--you are very unlikely to have gotten pregnant. "the guy" could offer you a variety of std's since there is no mention of a condom. Depoprovera offers no protection against sexually transmitted infections. Some bleeding on Depo-Provera is common and does indicate less effectiveness as birth control. ...Read more

Unpredictable: The bleeding patterns with depoprovera are unpredictable. For some in takes the period away. For others it causes irregular bleeding. There is no "normal" for Depo-Provera users. The longer you are on it the higher the chance of no periods. Brown is simply old blood coming out. Annoying but not dangerous. ...Read more

Spotting is common: Vaginal spotting is quite common in women using Depo-Provera injection. Many have no period at all while on the injection at regular intervals, but unfortnately it is not perfect and the body still tries to "normalize" it--having period. Because you are on the depo, you only have very little bleeding/spotting. If you have any suspicion of pregnanccy, do a home pregnancy test. Consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Time: Breakthrough bleeding and sporting are common when you start Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone). This usually gets better with subsequent shots and eventually you stop having periods. This is not unhealthy in general and in some women the irregular bleeding never stops. In some it happens only around the time the next shot is due. If it continues, DepoProvera may not be the best choice for you. ...Read more
I'm on the depo shot and I started bleeding 3-4 weeks after my 2nd injection, im not due for my next shot until another 6 weeks, what will happen if I take a birth control today?
Birth control pill?: One birth control pill won't do much to change bleeding on DepoProvera. Over time birth control pills taken at the same time every day should make your periods regular but it may be 2 or 3 packs before this happens and it won't work at all if the bleeding is due to an infection, a polyp, or abnormal cervical cells. Check with your PCP, GYN, or an urgent care clinic to be sure of the cause. ...Read more
I'm on the Depo-Provera provera (medroxyprogesterone) shot. Normally, I don't have bleeding until 10-15 days before I get the next shot and it's light. Is random spotting normal?
Yes, usually normal: DepoProvera is a single hormone, Progesterone, as opposed to Oral Contraceptives which usually are a combination of Progesterone and Estrogen, in a variety of combinations. As a single hormone, sometimes it can be associated with what is called breakthru bleeding. If persistent and heavy, check with your Doctor or Nurse Practitioner. Maybe: The bleeding could from the base of the LEEP. The vessels are cauterized when the proceedure is performed but can ooze later as the escar (a type of scab) comes off. If it is just spotting I wouldn't worry but if it is heavier you need to check with the doctor who preformed the LEEP. Hope this helps. ...Read more

I've been on depo since Aug. 17, 2015 and the end of Sept. I started bleeding. I received my second shot Nov. 9, 2015, I'm still bleeding.
Common side effect: This is a frequent problem with the Depo shot, especially when first starting it, but it is simply an annoyance and does not mean that the Depo is not working. Amount and duration of bleeding is unpredictable but in time this will normally resolve and you may then have no bleeding at all for long stretches. Then we have a different conversation. . . ...Read more

Symptoms: Sounds like some breakthrough bleeding. Typically we see bleeding like this for the first 12 weeks or so, but if you have endometriosis, fibroids or adenomyosis I might expect these symptoms to persist. I have been bleeding for 3 months after giving birth nonstop. It is light but I want to know if its normal. I'm also on the depo.
Not really normal: If patients of mine are still bleeding after about 6-7 weeks, then I usually do an ultrasound to see if there's something wrong. There isn't always a problem to be found, but it's nice to know that for sure. Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) does cause irregular bleeding too, especially if you are not breastfeeding. In any case, i'd look into it further. ...Read more
I had a day where I bled for a day and that was on the 10 but now I'm bleeding again is that bad I also was on the depo shot for almost five years?
Depo shot: "Depo shots" are progesterone, which is used as a contraceptive because the slow release of progesterone will make the lining of the womb not receptive to a fertilized egg. The "depo shot" is recommended for only about two years, and taking it for five years may interfere with your natural mentstrual cycle.
