1) Increased liver fat can be through the whole liver or parts of the liver AKA steatosis AKA fatty liver. Many causes, can often be reversible. Not precancerous, but if continued liver insult occurs, can lead to cirrhosis.
2) True fatty liver masses are fairly rare and often not cancer. 10 fatty liver Ca masses reported in 1988.

See answer: Very common, and more the rule than the exception, nowadays for current imaging studies (ct, ultrasound, mri, etc) to detect and report what are clinically insignificant findings. The question is which findings may be potentially significant and require follow-up imaging in a 3-12 month time span to look for any change in size/appearance.
