Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

22wks pregnant. Had myomectomy 8mnths back. I always feel mild cramps in my abdomen. Some groin pain also. So always tuk rest. Did scan, normal. Is this ok?

Likely: Your doctor who is taking care of you and performed your scan is the best to tell you if everything is normal. That was definitely a short time between having a myomectomy and getting pregnant. Most doctors recommend 18 months between surgery and getting pregnant, assuming the surgery went through your uterine layers of muscle. Tell your doctor about your pain. ...Read more

26 weeks pregnant. Area under old C-section scar (the mound area and part if groin) feel bruised but look normal. Why? And is this ok?

Symphysis pain: The pubic symphysis bone can suffer a 'strain' type of injury in pregnancy, causing bad pain in the mounded area. Pains in the groin are most often from the pulling of the round ligaments (this is a normal pregnancy occurrence and not dangerous), could also be a hernia (groin pains). Your OB doctor can help explain what's the cause. ...Read more

Right leg occasional shooting pain from groin to big toe. Eds3 first trimester pregnant. Is this part of pregnancy or eds? Is it normal for either?

Right leg occasional shooting pain from groin to big toe. Eds3 first trimester pregnant. Is this part of pregnancy or eds? Is it normal for either?

Both, probably: The combination of increased weight plus a change in your center of balance is always tough on the back, but tougher when there is ligament laxity in ed. Proper support for your feet, back and tummy all play a role here. What you're feeling is pressure on a nerve root in your back or leg from the weight gain, imbalance and lax ligaments. You & your OB should work together with a podiatrist. ...Read more

I am 10 weeks pregnant and sometimes get mild pains on either side of my pelvis, is this normal around this time?

I am 10 weeks pregnant and sometimes get mild pains on either side of my pelvis, is this normal around this time?

Common symptoms: Early pregnancy is associated with lots of pelvic cramping. It could be normal; could also indicate an ovarian cyst (like the one where you ovulated from), could be a fibroid tumor, or bladder infection, could suggest an ectopic pregnancy (but by 10 weeks - that is less likely), if you have had a sono confirming the baby growing inside the uterus and no other abnormalities found, its probly okay. ...Read more

7dpo and having bad stretching aching pains in lower back and right side of pelvis. Is this normal? Is this a sign of pregnancy? If yes will b my 4th

A little early: 7 days post ovulation is a little early to suspect that any symptoms you are having are the result of pregnancy. One way to tell is to check a home pregnancy test. If negative then this implies that the hormone levels are too low for detection. If there are no detectable hormonal changes then the symptoms are not caused by that. A better time to take a test is if you miss your next period. ...Read more

Is inguinal lymphadenopathy normal in pregnancy?

Don't assume: No, it is not normal and should be evaluated by your doctor. It can be a sign of infection in the vaginal area in some cases. I'm 25 weeks pregnant and today I'm feeling the baby moving down in my pelvis? Is it normal cause I always feel it up in my abdomen?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and today I'm feeling the baby moving down in my pelvis? Is it normal cause I always feel it up in my abdomen?

Yes: Rarely - it could be an indicator of trouble, preterm labor or something else. But it is common for the discomforts of the baby's movements to radiate into the pelvis or vagina. The round ligaments insert into the labia of the vagina, and so round legament pains can refer into the vagina/pelvis as well. ...Read more
