Pricey herbals: Very glad you're lifting; it's great for you & those around you. If you believed the claims made for herbals for guys like you, you'd be reading uncritically; the sellers know you've invested much time and effort & hope you'll throw money at a dubious hope. The scientific papers lend little support for supplements beyond creatine & protein powder. Hope you avoid steroids. Good luck! ...Read more
Human vs synthesized: rhIGF-1 protein is synthetic, made in E. coli bacteria and sometimes yeast that have been modified in the lab to have the gene for human IGF-1, enabling them to produce IGF-1. Plain IGF-1 protein is endogenous, coming from humans, but this is not used nearly as much anymore as the rhIGF-1 (trade name is Increlex). ...Read more
Can IGF-1 be as effective as rhIGF-1 for height increase in children? And how is IGF-1 lr3 different from the two above?
Growth: IGF1 is the effector protein of growth hormone. rhIGF1 just means it is synthetic. IGR IR3 is an analog, which should work the same way. Low igf-1 can be due to gh deficiency, insensitivity to gh, reduced pituitary function, anorexia nervosa or other nutritional deficiencies, chronic liver or kidney disease, etc.. ...Read more
They aren't: There aren't any natural igf-1 supplements. Igf-1 is made in your body. It is also available by injection from a physician, not it is really in any supplement you can buy at the store or on the internet. Even if it were, it wouldn't work and would be broken down in you stomach. ...Read more
Growth: IGF-1 is one of the main "growth hormones" and is stimulated by pituitary growth hormone. During adolescence, the levels of IGF-1 are higher than at other times. A very high IGF-1 can occur due to acromegaly, which is a pituitary tumor making excess GH, but this is very rare. A pediatric endocrinologist is the expert on this. ...Read more
Don't waste money: The IGF-1 products sold in health stores and on the internet as anti-aging agents have not been clinical tested and are unlikely to have any real benefit so it probably makes no difference how you take them. My advice is not to waste you money on them but try eating healthier and getting more exercise ...Read more
