If You Smoke Outside And Come In Will The Smoke Affect Your Baby
Should I be worried about my babies health if I still smoke cigarettes at 5 weeks ? I'm trying to cut down but can't quit cold turkey.
Keep trying: We know the nicotine has a negative effect on the quality of your placenta and how well it transfers nutrients. Its effect is dose related, so the fewer smokes you do the less it messes with baby.Keep at it. Don't worry about a cleft palate or 3 eyes or other scary stuff. You just don't need a shrimpy baby with a possibility of learning issues later in life who grows up wanting to smoke. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My husband smokes and drink a lot so he cannot have kids what medication can he take do we can have babies?
Nothing: There is no "medication" one can take to create a healthier environment for sperm production. He needs to do it the correct, old-fashioned way - change his lifestyle, his habits and live better. So many people want "pills" that will solve all problems in life, whether it be weight, behavior, sleep patterns. This is not the way to live healthy - pop a pill to fix it. He needs to change his lifestyle. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Nobody knows: Because the companies that make e-cigarettes managed to wiggle past any kind of regulation by the fda, nobody really knows because there is no research. All e-cigarettes are not created equal, and while it is clear that the sidestream smoke is nowhere near as toxic as smoked tobacco, nobody can say whether it is safe. Don't smoke around babies, e-cigarettes or other. Consider complete cessation. ...Read more
Hasn't been studied: Children living in homes where second-hand cigarette smoke is present have a higher incidence of upper respiratory infections, sinus problems and asthma, and get pneumonia more often as well. It is very possible the same thing occurs with marijuana smoke, but i can find no studies. It is not a good idea, and if one must smoke, it should be outside the home, on a porch or balcony, or another room. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Why: Second hand smoke provides dozens of toxic chemicals to the air inhaled by babies. They suffer 2-3x the number of respiratory and ear infections.Their crib death risk is elevated. Why you would need to validate an allergic response on top of the toxic effect is unclear. It's just bad around babies and the research has documented this well for decades. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Why can't i smoke when i'm breast-feeding? I see many mothers do it and their babies turn out to be fine, will i hurt my baby
Yes: Start with an increased risk of sudden infant death syndrome, add 2-3x incerase in bronchitis& ear infections & other respiratory issues. Add decreased growth & exposure to nicotine in the milk, short of this you will teach this child to smoke as an adult. I am not aware of any health benefits of smoking to you or your child. Second hand smoke: In a perfect world, there would be no tobacco exposure for anyone to be exposed to, especially young infants and children. I would try to insist on no direct exposure, meaning no smoking in the house or car, and wearing clothing free of the scent of cigarettes when holding a baby. Try to present facts in a calm fashion because it is so important for children to know their fathers! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I stopped smoking marijuana at 28 weeks pregnant. I smoked atleast 2-3 joints a day. How long does it take to leave my unborn babies blood?
Be prepared: It is good that you have stopped.Your job from now until past delivery is to abstain and hope you don't attract the attention of child & family services. When a kid under their watch presents for delivery we look at your urine, which would be clean, and the kids poo,not blood. The poo can retain evidence from the point it was created, and a sensitive test would show it from 28wks. ...Read more
