If You Miscarry Will A Pregnancy Test Still Be Positive
Hi, I had a miscarriage about 3 days ago and I took a pregnancy test today and it still says positive? What does that mean?
I'm really sorry...: To hear about your miscarriage. At home urine pregnancy tests measure the hormone HCG which goes up during pregnancy. These are still be elevated after a miscarriage but will eventually fall to zero over a course of days to weeks. So it's normal for the home pregnancy test to be still positive for that time.See 1 more doctor answer
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Biologic half life: This has to do with the biologic half life of the pregnancy hormone HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). The levels of the hormone cut in half every two days - so coming from a level of several thousand units it takes days to weeks for the HCG to be cleared from you blood or urine.
How long does hCG at 400 take to drop down to 0. its been 5days and pregnancy test still coming positive had a miscarriage a month a at six weeks?
Roughly: HCG drops at roughly the same rate it rises when a pregnancy fails, so an hCG of 400 can easily take 30 days to drop down to 10 or less. If you are concerned you should ask your doctor (or a doctor) to check a quant hCG again.
Positive pregnancy test, 2 weeks later still positive but line is faint. Should I be concerned I had a miscarriage jan.19, 2012. Feb.20 I found out I was pregnant again. Here I am 2 weeks later I took another pregnancy test today it is still positive but
Hi I miscarried on June 14 on July 15 I had a positive pregnancy test can I still have HCG in my body or am I pregnant?
Yes and Yes: If your HCG level was not followed after your miscarriage until it was zero, then a positive HCG level now could mean that you did not clear out all of the tissue or that you have HCG producing tissue still in the uterus. This could be a very serious situation and should be check out soon. It is also possible that you are pregnant again.
I had miscarriage on 2/1/14 at just under 4 weeks pregnant, pregnancy test today is still positive, is that still the remaining miscarriage?
Miscarriage: If you had the miscarriage that recently, the hormone level may still be elevated but should return to normal in before your next cycle start. Your first cycle may be a bit delayed but should return to the normal pattern after that time.
9 weeks ago I had a miscarriage and I aM still getting a positive pregnancy test even with April 14 hCG levels came back at 25 is this normal?
Yes: Hcg level in the blood goes down gradually, so this is not at all unusual. Sorry for your loss.
Natural miscarriage 6 May, now waiting for my period. Did a pregnancy test on 29 May to check Hcg and was positive still. What to do?
Miscarriage: You need to see if there is still pregnancy tissue in the uterus from the miscarriage. Sometimes not all of the tissue is passed. It is all possible that you have conceived once again and this is a new pregnancy. If you miscarried on May 6th and passed ALL of the tissue naturally, your HCG level should have been zero by May 20th.
I had an abortion 4 weeks ago, took an ultrasound 3 weeks ago "complete miscarriage noted". Pregnancy test still brightly positive. Had sex but took m?
If the "complete: miscarriage noted" opinion is based on an ultrasound and/or visual exam only, it's POSSIBLE that some fragment of placental tissue still remains. A quantitative pregnancy test may be needed. If HCG in any quality is present, further evaluation may be needed. Please speak with your OB/Gyn about this legitimate concern. Best wishes. Dr. Anne.
Several weeks: A pregnancy test will be positive as long as there is tissue in the uterus releasing hcg, or "pregnancy hormone". A growing pregnancy will always make hcg. A miscarrying pregnancy will still have a positive urine test, but may have a decreasing trend on a quantitative (numeric) blood test for hcg. Hcg will remain present for several weeks after a complete miscarriage.See 1 more doctor answer
Miscarried the levels were 175 but I just took a pregnancy test came back positive a strong positive at that is this a new pregnancy I never got my pd?
Miscarriage: Hcg levels fall just like they rise. The value halves every 48 hours on average, just like it doubles on average on the way up. So whether this is new or not depends on when you miscarried. But if it was close it may be difficult to say. That is why I tell my patients no unprotected intercourse until after the first normal cycle after a D and C or spontaneous miscarriage. Hope this helps. DrG
Just had a miscarriage on may 27th d and c on June 10 and I went to docter yesterday and took a pregnancy test and it's positive is this a new pregc?
Doubtful: It is unlikely that this is a new pregnancy just 11 days after a D&C done for a miscarriage. The HCG which is what a pregnancy test detects takes a while to fall and our very sensitive pregnancy tests are good at detecting even very low levels.
Just took a pregnancy test and it came out positive but I bled last week. Did I have a miscarriage?
Need to repeat test: Loght bleeding during pregnancy doesn't necessarily mean a miscarriage, but it could. A pregnancy test can stay positive for a few days after a miscarriage. A doctor can perform a quantitative HCG test. This is a pregnancy test that has a number. If the number goes up by a certain amount when the test is repeated, you are still pregnant, but if it goes down, then there has been a miscarriage.
I had a miscarriage last July. I'm 8 days late this month and the pregnancy test I took came out positive. I'm 40 yo. How many wks b4 prenatal exam?
I still have a + pregnancy test 3 weeks after my miscarriage, the pregnancy ended at 8 weeks however was discovered at 12 week u/s. Is this normal? Tx
Yes: First, sorry for your loss. Yes, the pregnancy test may still be positive 3 weeks after a miscarriage. The HCG level has to drop off, and this can take some time. The ultrasound suggests the heart stopped about a month before you had the ultrasound, or that you weren't as for along as you thought.
How do I know if I miscarried? I took a pregnancy test about 4 weeks ago and it was positive. I am now bleeding and I have been bleeding for 6 days really bad and painful IV had blood cloats they were kinda small. I took a pregnancy again while bleeding a
You: You likely miscarried as your pregnancy test was positive and is now negative after heavy bleeding. A blood pregnancy test is more sensitive than a urine test and might still detect some of the pregnancy hormone in your blood (beta hcg) to confirm that you were indeed pregnant. Health Class: Yes. Of course. First you have to begin Ovulating. Then if sexual at ovulation time conception can take up to five days after the sexual encounter. Then a fetus is not in any physical or chemical way connected to the mother's body until it is about fourteen days old when it is big enough to be making blood cells and chemicals to share with the mother. Only then can a test be positive.
