If You Have Ebv And Have Leukoplakia Does It Mean You Have Hiv
I have oral hair leukoplakia and fever, lymphnodes..etc but HIV PCR RNA 5,15 week; HIV ab 8,13,28,33 weeks all neg, am I HIV free?? Ebv is caus?
Could be-: If repeated HIV testing is (-), and oral hairy leukoplakia (OHL) is present, then you don't have HIV. You have another type of viral infection . EBV is certainly a leading diagnosis- there are specific blood tests that can determine if you have an active or past infection. If the OHL is a soft diagnosis, consider other viruses such as Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and Human Herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6). ...Read more
Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis). Thirdly by pcr (polymerase chain reaction) which ...Read more
Can you get thrush or oral hairy leukoplakia just from common EBV or does there HAVE to be a major condition associated that causes it? I'm scared
Unrelated to EBV: Oral thrush, the overgrowth of candida albicans in the mouth, results when the host immune system can’t maintain its natural defense against the fungus always present in small numbers. Normally, the immune system depends on the common oral microorganisms to keep Candida under control. Use of antibiotics, or infection with HIV can result in thrush. ...Read more
No.: Some people with leukoplakia have hiv, but many patients with leukoplakia do not have hiv. Leukoplakia is not "specific for" HIV and can be seen in other clinical settings. If you are concerned that you or someone that you know might have hiv, then please get tested for hiv. Hope that this helps. ...Read more
Not always: Most cases of hairy leukoplakia are reported in HIV patients and is related to ebv infection. However, it has also been reported in patients without hiv. Patients with immune compromise (post-transplant) or autoimmune problems may develop hairy leukoplakia. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Very small Lymph nodes appearing ONLY in neck for 4 months, Negative 4 HIV tests , hepB&C, mono, ebv?
Sounds normal: Having several small lymph nodes in the neck is common in many people and not necessarily abnormal. The lab tests you had are very accurate, so HIV is not a possible cause (and HIV doesn't cause lymph node enlargement in only one area like the neck) Probably not hepatitis, mono, or EBV either. If you otherwise feel well, probably nothing is wrong. Discuss with your doctor. ...Read more
Negative Mono,HepB&C,EBV after 8 months.. Negative HIV 4th generation test after 4,5,6,7,8 and negative for all STI's .. Am I safe now?
Overtested: You have been seriously overtested for HIV. The 4th gen test was nearly conclusive after 1 month and for sure at 6 weeks. There was no need for hepatitis or EBV testing after a single heterosexual exposure. Most other STI tests also are highly reliable, so you probably are "safe now". You do not need any more tests. ...Read more
Hi sir, my neutrophils is 15 % and lymphocyte is 80 %, (bonemerrow, all, cll, iron profile, hiv, ctscan, ebv, imunophenotyping, results ok, please suggest?
You have entered: Quite a bit of data here in 3 lines. The percentages are not as important as the absolute numbers (the total WBC multiplied by the % neuts and % lymphs). The fact that a detailed work-up has been undertaken confirms that you need to continue with the evaluating physician for a plan for further testing. ...Read more
Unclear: Your question is very unclear. It is hard to know what you are asking, but in general when you test for some types of infection, you check both IgM and IgG type antibodies. If the IgM is high that means you are currently or very recently infected. If IgM is normal, but IgG if high that means old infection. Hope that helps. ...Read more
What are the infectious causes that may cause chronic elevated ALT 100. After ruling out. Hiv.Cmv.Ebv.Hep a.B.C and no sexual activity in 23 y o male?
Next step...: I'm glad the hepatitis family has been ruled and trust hepatitis e, which very rarely goes chronic, is not a consideration. Please be sure that hemochromatosis, autoimmune hepatitis, antitrypsin deficiency, and wilson's have also been ruled out. If they are, you may be one of those folks who gets a "non-alcoholic steatohepatitis" diagnosis -- an invitation to better health through aerobic fitness. ...Read more

The epstein–barr virus (ebv) is a virus in the herpesvirus family and is one of the most common viruses in humans. Ebv is best known as the cause of infectious mononucleosis, and infection with ebv occurs by the oral transfer of saliva and/or genital secretions, hence the moniker "the kissing disease". In the us, about 90 to 95 percent of all adults have ...Read more
