If you are touching someone who is hit by a taser will you be electrocuted too?

If you are touching someone who is hit by a taser will you be electrocuted too?

Probably not: For a bystander get the 5 seconds of high voltage when touching somebody else who is getting taser'd, the bystander would have to conduct electricity very well. The electricity wants to go from one prong to the other, so travels in between the prongs. However, if the main person got hit with one prong and the bystander with the other prong, the electricity would have to travel through both people. ...Read more

Will a taser kill someone who has an implanted defibrillator?

Will a taser kill someone who has an implanted defibrillator?

Maybe not: A taser might damage implanted devices, although some studies done on pigs found the 5-seconds of high voltage did not damage pacemakers or implanted defibrillators. Those devices likely have safety features to block high voltage electrical currents. Not sure if a defribillator could reset the heart if a taser created an abnormal rhythm, but the studies suggest the defribrillator would still work. ...Read more

Can being electrocuted stop your heart from beating?

Can being electrocuted stop your heart from beating?

Yes indeed: As a pathologist, these are some of the most difficult cases. Lightning can strike from a clear sky, and a person's last act may be to put down a defective power tool that shocked them -- or a foreman may hide or repair the tool before police arrive. Hundreds of people die of electrocution stopping the heart just in the usa every year. ...Read more

It sometimes feels like my back is being electrocuted, should I try acupressure as treatment?

Be assessed: I am not sure what you are referring to. If you are experiencing "body zaps" that would be best assessed by a neurologist. However, it you are referring to spasm of muscles then both acupressure and acupuncture would be likely to be beneficial. Take care. ...Read more

I've got electrocuted about half an hour ago, and I just wanted to know if I should go to a doctor to get checked, or it's not a big deal?

Electrocution: IT IS A VERY BIG DEAL!! Electrocution can lead to heart arrythmias which can be fatal. Thermal injury can occur not only on the skin but also internally. Muscle breakdown called rhabdomyolysis is also common. The Emergency Department is the appropriate venue for evaluation following electrocution. It is not advisable to operate a motor vehicle following electrocution. 911 can provide an ambulance. ...Read more

I used a earpiece that's spoiled and I felt like I got electrocuted while using it and got a little headache. Will it affect my eyes?

Unlikely: You probably got a minor surge of current from a short in the earpiece. This is a low voltage circuit and the current almost certainly did not get to the eyes. Even if it did, the eye is rather resistant to electric current and so you have nothing to fear. ...Read more

18 months baby electrocuted from the plug that converts the american adapter to european for a short time. She looks fine but will something happen?

Have her seen: Electrical arcing from a wall outlet seldom produces more than localized burns, depending on where the current goes. If it went through the body and exited from the other side the trip across may have damaged the heart muscle, which would not show outward signs in a brief exposure. I would have her seen in an urgent care setting and run heart enzymes to be sure. Any burns could also be assessed ...Read more

Holding cord: If intact cord nil. You might want to in plug and make sure the sockets are covered. Even putting her fingers into the socket, the current is not strong enough for electrocution. All the best. It does need to be discouraged. ...Read more

See Doc...: You need to be checked out if you have UTI or PID/STD/pelvic organ disorders or Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). To do so, collect the information on the onset, degree, and progress of the symptoms with their detailed sequence of events, and bring those to Doc for analysis, physicals, possible tests so to deduce possible Dx for proposing Rx timely. Best wish... ...Read more
