I have an astigmatism in my right eye , the eye doctor said only need to wear my glasses at night when I'm driving Can I get lazy eye or blind worried?

No: You obviously have a very minor astigmatism. Many people, some of the nicest and brightest (inc. me, ahem!) have much worse astigmatism which is correctable with glasses. It does not cause lazy eye or blindness. ...Read more

Do colored contacts ruin your eye sight, even after the doctor said you have one eye with a weak eye sight?

Do colored contacts ruin your eye sight, even after the doctor said you have one eye with a weak eye sight?

Contact lenses: It's not the color of the contact lens, it's how well it fits and how tolerable your eye is to it. Te color of the lens doesn't damage your eye sight. If you have only one good working eye, it is very important to wear them responsibly and have your eyes checked out routinely. ...Read more

As im diagnosed witn dry eyes, can i still continue to wear contact lens and put eye make up as it irritates the eyes?

2 Double whammies: Dry Eye syndrome with contact lens wear is a recipe for disaster. Then wearing mascara and eye makeup that flakes/ particles can get in the eyes, under the contact lens, and irritate the cornea and conjuctiva. See your eye doctor soon to discuss. You may not be an ideal CL wearer. Switch to glasses now, and hold off of the eye make up until you've been evaluated. Then discuss options available. ...Read more

I'm myopic(-3,50 each eye).if I wear my glasses, close an eye, stare a point far away and turn my head, I see worse.i see blur. Is it normal? Thanks

Yes: By turning your head with your glasses on, you are changing the way the light from the image you are looking enters through your pupil. This blur is due to the spherical aberration of the glasses and partly due to your eye. The best focus comes from the rays of light entering the optical center of your spectacles and through the center of your pupil. ...Read more

Ad eye floaters for years but on and of I get pressure in them and hurt to touch could this be eye tumours blurred vision up close reading glass it'ok?

Different symptoms : Floaters don't have "pressure-like" feelings. It sounds like you're experiencing pain when pushing on your eyes. Well don't do it then. Blurred vision could be a need for new glasses. You're old enough for reading glasses, which are fine. Because your symptoms are varied, an exam would be very helpful to sort them out. An eye tumor would be a very unlikely concern, but again an exam will help. ...Read more

I have prism lenses in my glasses. If I look at things, they're blurry. If I work to focus my eyes & squint, they become clear. Why is it an effort?

Depends: is this vision problem with near vision and distance vision or near/distance vision only? Prism in your lenses is used to help amblyopia commonly known as lazy eye, or problems with near convergence. This is when the eyes must come together to see something up close. The lens has to work harder to see things close up. Best to discuss these Issues with your eye doctor. Sorry not more helpful. Dr R ...Read more

Do i need to fix my lazy eye? When i don't wear my glasses (pretty often), my lazy eye drifts sometimes and i get double vision. Is there something i need to do about this?

Things to ponder: When you don't wear your glasses & you start having double vision, your brain doesn't like it. Keep it up and your brain can decide to turn off the eye causing the double vision. If it happens often enough you can loose some vision permanently. Work with your eye doc to keep your eyes in the best shape possible. Wear your glasses or get surgery. What you are doing now could cause long term harm. ...Read more

Should I wear my nearsighted glasses for reading and looking at computer? My prescription is -1.75 rt eye, -.75 left eye. Will it make vision worse?

Q1: no. Q2: maybe.: If you are "nearsighted," that means you need your glasses for distance, like for driving, but not reading. Conversely, if you are "farsighted" you need your glasses for up-close vision, like reading but not driving. Using your distance lenses for reading will stress your eyes, and may leave you with a headache and even some mild fatigue. Make sure your prescription is current. ...Read more

I tend to open my eyes wide when wearing contact lenses, which causes some eye fatigue. Is this normal? Should I consciously close up my eyelids a bit as if I am wearing glasses?

It is common: to open your eyes wider while wearing contact lenses, especially while getting use to them. If your eyes are becoming fatigued while wearing contact lens, you should decrease the amount of time that you are wearing them, in order to allow your eyes to adapt. Try wearing the contacts for only 4 hours/day for a few days, if your eyes do not feel fatigued, gradually increase the number of hours/day ...Read more

Do contact lenses hurt the eye, does it worsen myopia?bcz i can see way better with lenses than with glasses but i've been told that contacts are bad

Consider the source: Are the people telling you that contacts are "bad" in any way qualified to make that statement, really? I wear eye glasses. I feel that plastic glasses are a little blurry as compared to glass. Is it so?

Slight possibility: Although glass lenses offer a subtle advantage in clarity over high index or polycarbonate lenses, typically the advantages of plastic far outweigh glass. Polycarbonate essentially can function as 'safety ' glasses. The drawback however is that plastic tends to scratch more easily no matter what over glasses. Again though, the functionality of plastic is superior. ...Read more
