If I sing with the whistle register too much can it damage my voice?

If I sing with the whistle register too much can it damage my voice?

Possibly: If you are trained properly in this technique, occasional use should not be harmful. Otherwise, using whistle register can damage the false vocal folds (used to produce whistle register) by causing nodules. Improper technique can also negatively affect your normal upper register. I'd advise training with a vocal teacher well versed in this technique.

My voice has become very shaky when I sing. What could cause this?

Voice: Is it shaky when you talk ever? Do your hands shake when eating or using your hands? This could be essential tremor....Also could be spasmodic dysphonia. Recommend seeing an ENT or neurologist. Low down on list though common would be anxiety disorder....All depends on pattern and symptoms as well as exam.

Rest, hot liquids: Voice rest is usually the best remedy for overly strained vocal chords. Hot liquids also relax and soothe the tissues. I have also found a homeopathic spray, otc called singer's saving grace to be helpful. Good luck.

Not Possible?: I don't think your goal is possible. However, seek consultation with a PhD speech therapist, and an ENT voice specialist for best advice.

Be careful: As soon as possible, you will need to see an ENT doctor who has a strong interest in voice. Ent needs to visualize your vocal cords to determine if there are any nodules or lesions that may be affecting the quality of your voice. It is possible you could make your singing and talking voice worse if you don't seek a medical opinion 1st. If it is simple laryngitis, there are ways to get you ready.

Is my singing voice going to be okay? Do I have a vocal nodule or just need more rest? I love to sing and lately I have really been using my singing voice more frequently. Last week I was singing rolling in the deep by adele and all the sudden, on the lou

Sudden: Sudden losses of the voice may be due to a hematoma (a collection of blood) in or on the vocal cord. Small blood vessels can rupture from vocal abuse like yelling, singing, coughing, etc. Treatment is controversial. Some feel that small hematomas can be treated with voice rest. Others feels that they lead to scarring of the cord or growths called polyps and they should be managed surgically. Other causes of voice loss and hoarseness include muscle tension dysphonia (the muscles around the larynx are over stimulated and the muscles are tense) and vocal nodules (callus-like growths on the cords). If your voice does not improve, then you should be seen by an otolaryngologist (ent).

About 2 weeks ago I couldn't stop coughing and getting fevers. Now my singing voice has changed and everything I sing my voice cracks. How do I fix it?

Rest your voice: You probably have some inflammation of your vocal cords. I would rec. Resting your voice for at least two weeks-- no singing. If you sound hoarse when talking, then rest it with speaking also. Whispering actually makes it worse, so just write or text. If you still hear cracking after two weeks, see your doctor for an exam of your vocal cords.

My endocrinologist recommends that I do a thyroidectomy, and I do sing in a choir, is there a chance I could lose my singing voice?

My endocrinologist recommends that I do a thyroidectomy, and I do sing in a choir, is there a chance I could lose my singing voice?

There are: Other appropriate therapies for graves' disease such as radioiodine and antithyroid drugs that are usually preferred compared to surgery. Vocal changes, including vocal cord paralysis are potential complications (among others) of thyroid surgery, which is why it is not commonly recommended. Check w/your doctor or consider a second opinion.

I'm trying to quit marijuana slowly but my voice has changed cant acsess my high register Can I continue quiting slowly? Or do I have to quit right now

I'm trying to quit marijuana slowly but my voice has changed cant acsess my high register Can I continue quiting slowly? Or do I have to quit right now

Just quit: You are just delaying things by "weaning" yourself off THC. There is no need to do this - you are not going to have physical withdrawl symptoms like with some drugs. You can and should just quit. Tell yourself this is bad, I don't need it, my body and life are more important to me than inhaling the smoke of a weed that kills my brain cells. And then just do it. No more excuses, no more weaning.

Itz been almost 6 months that I can't sing well, never hapen like this before. When I sing my voice gets crack and my chest get tired?

Get examined: By your dr. Possibilities include laryngitis, too much phlegm production, vocal cord nodules, bronchitis, etc I hope u don't smoke which can aggravate your condition. I'm from the philippines and with this condition we drink warm ginger/ tea concoction. You may need spirometry to check for airway narrowing, laryngoscopy to check for pathology in your vocal cords etc hope u feel better!

I have to sing in 2 days and I have remnants of a head cold that include sinus draining and a raspy voice. What should I do to clear it away for good?

Voice rest: Strict voice rest, no throat clearing, increase water intake, consider a nasal steroid spray, consider a temporary stomach acid pill, and a physician may give an oral or injectable steroid. Good luck, hope it goes well.

I sometimes notice a slight crackling sound in my voice when speaking in a low register or humming. I can't tell if this is from mucus /sinus rattiling?

Hoarse voice: This is likely due to inflammation of your vocal cords. This could be due to post-nasal drip from allergy or upper respiratory infection. If this worsens or persist for more that a week then you should seek evaluation from your family physician.
