If I sing with the whistle register too much can it damage my voice?

If I sing with the whistle register too much can it damage my voice?

Otherwise, using whistle register can damage the false vocal folds (used to produce whistle register) by causing nodules. Improper technique can also negatively affect your normal upper register. I'd advise training with a vocal teacher well versed in this technique. ...Read more

I currently have laryngitis & it comes the same time evry year. I sing in choir & our concert is 10/7/2012. I have a solo. How can I get back voice?

Be careful: As soon as possible, you will need to see an ENT doctor who has a strong interest in voice. Ent needs to visualize your vocal cords to determine if there are any nodules or lesions that may be affecting the quality of your voice. It is possible you could make your singing and talking voice worse if you don't seek a medical opinion 1st. If it is simple laryngitis, there are ways to get you ready. ...Read more

Is my singing voice going to be okay? Do I have a vocal nodule or just need more rest? I love to sing and lately I have really been using my singing voice more frequently. Last week I was singing rolling in the deep by adele and all the sudden, on the lou

Sudden: Sudden losses of the voice may be due to a hematoma (a collection of blood) in or on the vocal cord. Small blood vessels can rupture from vocal abuse like yelling, singing, coughing, etc. Treatment is controversial. Some feel that small hematomas can be treated with voice rest. Others feels that they lead to scarring of the cord or growths called polyps and they should be managed surgically. Other causes of voice loss and hoarseness include muscle tension dysphonia (the muscles around the larynx are over stimulated and the muscles are tense) and vocal nodules (callus-like growths on the cords). If your voice does not improve, then you should be seen by an otolaryngologist (ent). ...Read more

About 2 weeks ago I couldn't stop coughing and getting fevers. Now my singing voice has changed and everything I sing my voice cracks. How do I fix it?

Rest your voice: You probably have some inflammation of your vocal cords. I would rec. Resting your voice for at least two weeks-- no singing. If you sound hoarse when talking, then rest it with speaking also. Whispering actually makes it worse, so just write or text. If you still hear cracking after two weeks, see your doctor for an exam of your vocal cords. ...Read more

I'm trying to quit marijuana slowly but my voice has changed cant acsess my high register Can I continue quiting slowly? Or do I have to quit right now

Just quit: You are just delaying things by "weaning" yourself off THC. There is no need to do this - you are not going to have physical withdrawl symptoms like with some drugs. You can and should just quit. Tell yourself this is bad, I don't need it, my body and life are more important to me than inhaling the smoke of a weed that kills my brain cells. And then just do it. No more excuses, no more weaning. ...Read more
