If my test came back negative, how do I know if its accurate that i don't have a thyroid problem? I have all the symptoms. My family members have it.

If my test came back negative, how do I know if its accurate that i don't have a thyroid problem? I have all the symptoms. My family members have it.

What test?: Thyroid tests are notoriously insensitive. If the test was a TSH a normal TSH does not rule out thyroid problems- see http://bit.Ly/1cjnybx ask your doctor to check free t3 (liothyronine) ; thyroid antibodies. Even those with "normal" tests may have type 2 hypothyroidism. See http://bit.Ly/198pl4d. Also see http://bit.Ly/16xtifq a holistic md is more likely to understand this! ...Read more

Glucose tolerance test. I was meant to have mine today but I vomited and couldn't have it. How do I find out if gdm?

What to do if I have had a blood test done as my doctors think I may have digeorge syndrome, if it comes back that I do have?

Glad for the checkup: It's fairly common for an adult to be diagnosed with DiGeorge, which is often quite mild. If you do have it -- and especially if it's been causing you problems with calcium homeostasis -- you'll be pleased with how much better you'll probably feel on treatment. ...Read more

I smoked weed three days ago and have to get a routine blood test soon I'm 16 will it show in my test results and will they tell my parents if it does?

I smoked weed three days ago and have to get a routine blood test soon I'm 16 will it show in my test results and will they tell my parents if it does?

"Soon" 's unspecific: Depends on how much - how often in the past and when the test is. It might if the answers are one way and not if the other. Also depends on who they are and how your parents are connected. Don't do it if it's illegal since your future can really be impacted by a criminal record. It matters. I wish you well. But pledge to be careful. ...Read more

What to do if I have type 2 diabetes I tested 210 with finger prick test is this normal?

What to do if I have type 2 diabetes I tested 210 with finger prick test is this normal?

T2DM: A glu of 210 is not "normal", but you do not say if this is fasting, after a meal, what medications you are on, etc. Rather than a random glu, your doctor should do an A1C test, which looks at overall control. There are many issues that you need to discuss with your doctor about your diabetes. ...Read more

How can you tell if you have an infection under a blood blister? I had a rock in my shoe and did not know it 3 hours later i had a large blood blister that i did not pop. It calisted over and then i sanded it down and put a needle in it, i got a yellowish

The : The easiest way to discover if you have infection near that blister will be to look for surrounding redness and tenderness. If there is, then most likely you have an infection. The next thing is to look for malodorous and pus drainage coming out of your foot. If you have any of that, then definitely you have an infection and you need to visit a podiatrist. If you are diabetic however, you might have an infection and still not have any surrounding redness. So, if the wound on your foot generally looks bad and not healthy, then it's better to just come and visit a physician rathen than wait and see if it will get better. You are more likely to cause more harm by trying to treat it on your own. ...Read more

What to do if I had a fasting blood glucose test and have been told it was high, I now have to have a hba1c on tuesday?

HbA1c: This is a blood test that tells the doctor how well your blood sugar has been controlled over the last 3 months. If you had a high fasting sugar and your A1c is very high then you will know that you have diabetes and it is not well-controlled. If you have a low / normal A1c then you probably just starting to develop diabetes and can treat it with diet and exercise first. ...Read more
