Is it dangerous to take medicine for an UTI if I'm not sure I have one? I have symptoms but I just need it to go away

You need guidance: If you have symptoms with urination then it's possible that you have a UTI or something called urethritis. This should definitely be checked out by a doctor, because there is the risk it could worsen and affect other parts of the body. There are simple tests that can be done to determine the cause -and only then will treatment best be targeted to eradicate the symptoms and cure the disease. See MD ...Read more

Yes, need eval: If you are having continuing pelvic or abdominal pain, lasting a day or more, it is best to have a doctor evaluate what is going on. You may be correct, that it is an ovarian cyst, but if might be something else that requires more urgent treatment. You may be given a pain killer in the end, but the correct diagnosis needs to be made first. Go on in! ...Read more

I have reallly bad headache but im not sure if its hbp or no so how do i know and what should i take? Im at a place with no doc. Or hospitals ??

Doc said I have mild hernia is their anything i can do to help it go away or something apparently had 4 awhile he was to busy to answer my call back?

Hernias stay: Hernias represent a defect in the abdominal wall or inguinal region, commonly in the groin or around the belly button. With obesity, there is increased abdominal pressure which creates more symptoms. Weight loss helps, and can minimize symptoms. However – the hernia itself never resolves or disappears. It may just become less symptomatic. They generally enlarge over time. Surgery is corrective. ...Read more

Overseas. I have no choice but to go to local doctor for my gastroenteritis, it came back, and what can I do now?

Stool examination: You need to be seen by your private physician and have a complete stool evaluation, including cultures for various bacteria and parasites. In addition it might be helpful to avoid dairy products for now. When patients develope "gastroenteritis" they can develope an aquired lactose intolerance, which will make it more difficult to digest dairy products and possibly prolong the diarrhea. ...Read more

Relax: Neither of these is toxic and both come in forms we give a baby by mouth. I would take the opportunity to get the poison control centers number and keep it by the phone.I would also scan the house for other ways baby can get into materials that could be poisonous or dangerous. Babies like to explore and unfortunately, they eat things to see how they taste. ...Read more

Mono I have had mono for a few weeks now and I have been excused from school. I still have the mono and everything, but my doctor says it is safe to attend school. I just wanted to know if it was considered okay from other doctors.

Hello. : Hello. Normally people with mononucleosis (mono) do not need to be isolated or quarantined from others. Most often mono is spreab through a person's saliva. It is called the kissing disease because it can be transmitted this way as well as sharing food or drinks with people or using the same utensils. There is also a possibility of transmitting the disease if someone breathes in the droplets that you have coughed or sneezed out of your body. It can take 4 to 8 weeks from your initial infection until you have symptoms. You can spread mono not only when you are infected, but up to several weeks (sometimes months) after you no longer have symptoms. Now, if you are physically feeling up to it, then returning to school is ok. But, you don't want to be doing vigrous sports (especially contact sports) for possibly three months due to concerns about rupturing your spleen (if it was enlarged). You want to cough into a kleenex and you don't want to be kissing anyone or let people eat or drink off your food. Hope you feel better soon. ...Read more

Does the emergency room have to treat you? Plz help asap if your really sick with no job, no insurance and no way to pay, will they treat you or turn you away? I would never normally go to the ER but i'm really sick and have been for about a month and it'

No : No emergency room will turn you away for your inability to pay. It's the law, and it's how hospitals are able to receive government funding. But er care is problem-focused. What i mean is, they will treat you for the problem you come in with, but that's all. They will stabilize you, but will not investigate or treat an underlying cause. For instance, if you go in with a painful, swollen joint, they will give you medicine to get that joint better, but will not investigate why that happened, or look into seeing if there is any underlying condition that may have caused it. If you're sick and need help, and have no means by which to pay or have no insurance, yes, go to the er. They will not turn you away. Feel better, and i hope you get some health coverage asap. ...Read more

If you keep passing out I went to er and told me to see the heart Dr but they not calling back what should I do?

Your doc: Your best resource is your physician. He or she can coordinate work-up and further consults, at least Cardiology and Neurology. You can always go to ER, but you have to understand that they will rule out life threatening conditions and if that is not the case you will be discharged from ER with follow-up with your PCP. An EEG will help in ruling out seizure. ...Read more

If I believe I've had Walking Pneumonia for about 5 days should I go to the doctor? Or should I just wait it out? Also should I take Mucinex (guaifenesin)?

Depends: That non-specific label is usually used for a problem that can be handled as an outpatient. It can cover a lot of minor lower respiratory viruses that will self heal. It can also apply to early stages of bacterial pneumonia that could worsen and be deadly. If your symptoms are minor and you can do most of your daily activities, you may be able to wait it out.If not, get in to be evaluated. ...Read more

I have an ultrasound tomorrow only, not meeting doctor or ob yet. My question is will i still have to pee in cup? And if so, what if i don't want to

Pregnancy: You will probably be asked for a urine sample. But unless the doctor has reason to be concerned about drug use, this will only be for urinalysis, not drug screen. Urinalysis tests for color, cells, sugar, blood, etc to make sure you're healthy beginning your pregnancy. These things can change as pregnancy progresses, so baseline measures are needed. ...Read more
