Can people have gonorrhea or chlamydia in their throats from oral sex? Is this dangerous if you don't know? If a cut in mouth is it in your blood?

Yes: Both gonorrhea and chlamydia are diseases of mucosal (non-hairbearing) skin. The bacteria best transmit by genital to genital contact. What is the normal procedure to repair a missing upper molar that broke off years after a root canel due to never being crowned would the remainer of the root that still remains have to be removed as well, would an inplant be best or would a simple singl

Depends: It depends upon the condition of the remaining part of the tooth. If it has a poor prognosis removal and a bridge or implant to replace it would be appropriate. If the remaining tooth and root are in good condition and the root canal is looking good, then building the tooth back up and placing a crown is appropriate. Talk with your dentist and review the options. ...Read more

Tough: Tough to say without seeing how broken down your tooth is, but chances are the tooth fractured at or near the gumline, making it very weak. A dental implant to replace it after it is extracted may be a better option. Consult with the dentist who will treat you, and with a radiograph he/she will be able to determine what is best. ...Read more

Molar crowned, root canaled 5 months ago. Still uncomfortable. Can you say root canal was successfully done for passing 5 months?

Possible crack: It can take up to 6 months for a tooth to completely heal from having a root canal. Depending on your level of discomfort i'd see the dentist or specialist that did your root canal. It is possible your tooth had a fracture line that extended into the nerve prior to having any work done. If that was the case it didn't matter what work you had done, the tooth had a hopeless prognosis. Good luck! ...Read more

What is the normal procedure to repair a missing upper molar that broke off years after a root canal due to never being crowned. Would the remainder of the root that still remains have to be removed as well?

More info needed: A dentist needs to see a current xray of the tooth and assess it clinically, to see if enough tooth remains for a crown. A crown is the preferred method to save the tooth. You next best option is an implant, if the tooth is too decayed or not enough is left for a crown. ...Read more

Upper molar #14 crowned, root canaled, still dead feeling on #14, should I wait until something more happens? Canaled 6 weeks ago.

No, have it checked: The time for a tooth to feel normal after a root canal treatment is arbitrarily chosen at one month. After that, it should be normal. If it has not, usually, there is something amiss. If you had the rct by your dentist, have him check it. If the symptoms don't go away, have him refer you to his endodontist (rct specialist) so that he/she can check to see what is the problem. ...Read more

A month after root canal and crown my pre-molar still hurts. The dentist checked it twice and said the canal looks perfect. Is this just sensitive?

CBCT: It might be a bite problem, a micro fracture in the tooth or root, an unfilled accessory canal or some other problem that cannot be seen either on clinical exam or with 2-dementional x-ray. You might want to have a consult with an endodontist who can take a cbct (cone beam ct 3d scan) which often shows previously undetectable problems. Or you can wait it out awhile longer. ...Read more

Just had a crown placed and then a root canal on a back molar. Why does it still hurt to chew solid food?

Crown&rt canal: This is a question you need to ask your dentist. We do not have enough information about your teeth.
That being said, it often takes a while after a root canal for the tooth to be pain free.
You also may need to have the bite checked.
As I said, you need to check back with your dentist. ...Read more

Upper molar crowned, root canaled, if soreness is, due to bite (unprofessional) only, can it still get infected? Assuming root canal was successful.

Residual pain: If the root canal was very recent, it is common for the tooth to have residual pain, which should subside. If the the bite is off, a simple adjustment should take care of it. Don't be to quick to throw your gp under the bus! Go back and have it evaluated. Good luck. ...Read more

Bite: Duralon was and is said to be a permanent cement. I have found that after about 13 years, the cement loiosens and recementation is needed.
I think your pain problem may be related to your bite. If the tooth was alive and asymptonatic before cementation, and it hurts now, it is frequently a bite problem. Duralon expands a little when it sets. ...Read more

Went to dentist yesterday, no infection on x-ray. Still tiny bit uncomfortable. Did crown then rootcanal 9 months ago on molar. Does this mean ok?

Infected vs Inflamed: It is important to understand that pain does not equal infection. Often times a tooth that has been treated with a root canal can remain tender but look 'ok' on the xray. This is because the xray will not completely show areas that could have been missed so inflammation remains. It would be best to have a consultation with an endodontist for an opinion. There is probably no emergency looming. ...Read more

I've been seizures free for 4years but still on medication until now. Is there any risk of inhaling prosthetic crown for my rct molar tooth?

Highly unlikely: If your dentist takes appropriate precautions, it is highly unlikely that you would swallow your crown during the placement procedure, even if you were to have a seizure. Once in place, it is not meant to come off easily so there is no fear of swallowing it afterwards. A crown will only fall off by itself if something is really wrong, so make sure you keep up with your routine visits. ...Read more
