With it: Ocular myasthenia gravis, if that is all he has, is a local condition that is unpleasant but not life threatening. Is it possible to die from taking a heart pill when a person doesn't need it?

Is it possible to die from taking a heart pill when a person doesn't need it?

Maybe (not) . . .: I'm going to take a contrarian approach to my two colleagues just to play devil's advocate. But 1st to be clear, I have no idea what you mean by "heart attack pill". 2nd, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to take a medication which you don't need. All drugs have side effects, so why take risk? Especially if you're worried about dying? I'm thinking of Aspirin which can kill via bleeding ulce. ...Read more

Is it possible for someone with one Testical produce a baby if he releases sperms?

Is it possible for someone with one Testical produce a baby if he releases sperms?

Yes, but...: Only one properly functioning testicle is needed, for a normal life and normal reproduction. However, a person should find the other testicle because if the other testicle is in his abdomen, it is not readily available for his doctor to examine. Annual examinations can be done to check for cancer, in a testicle that did not drop into the scrotum on its own before or during infancy. ...Read more

What happens if a women is pregnant then gets diagnosed with cancer does the baby get cancer or grows to get it later in lfe?

What happens if a women is pregnant then gets diagnosed with cancer does the baby get cancer or grows to get it later in lfe?

No cancer: If a woman delivers a healthy baby and has had cancer during the pregnancy, the baby will not develop cancer. The chance that there are circulating tumor cells during the pregnancy are slight and such cells do not have the capability of growing in a healthy newborn. In addition even if circulating cells were present they would not pass thru the placental circulation. ...Read more

If a person carried a gallon (if he doesn't carry it at usual)to the kitchen.is it normal to feel his heart is beating fast for a while?

If a person carried a gallon (if he doesn't carry it at usual)to the kitchen.is it normal to feel his heart is beating fast for a while?

Deconditioning: A gallon of liquid is about 4 kg (9 lbs) in weight. If one is not accustomed to carrying around this kind of weight ("deconditioning"), then it is possible this activity puts a demand on the heart. The heart will respond by increasing heart rate & trying to pump more blood. The combination may make it feel like the heart is beating in the chest. It should pass in about 10-15 minutes with rest, tho ...Read more

If the life expectancy of a child born with HIV is 3 years, then why is it the people catch HIV as an adult? How did it progress to adults having it?

Depends where u live: In developed countries like the usa medical science has developed new drugs to keep an HIV patient alive for a very long time. That medication is quite expensive ; if you live in a third world country this kind of therapy is not readily available. You also have to have an educated public because the regimen in taking the medication is very important. ...Read more

Every year I have my 96 yr-old mother vaccinated against influenza. However, it is always possible that she could contract influenza before then. Can influenza be sufficient to kill an elderly person by itself or is it only if it leads to pneumonia?

Every year I have my 96 yr-old mother vaccinated against influenza. However, it is always possible that she could contract influenza before then. Can influenza be sufficient to kill an elderly person by itself or is it only if it leads to pneumonia?

Dangers of influenza: Certainly influenza can kill - actually 90% of the mortality is in those patients older than 65. That's because as we age, the body gets weaker (in all respects, including the immune system-we call this immunosenescence). The 'flu' can lead to a heart attack (from viral sepsis), primary or secondary pneumonia as you reference, plus other complications including stroke. Get HIGH DOSE vaccine 4 mom. ...Read more

I am guessing that if an elderly person (not me) has COPD & a pleural effusion (even if the person doesn't have a lung infection) then this would make it harder to survive sepsis. But if so, would either be likely to make a significant difference?

I am guessing that if an elderly person (not me) has COPD & a pleural effusion (even if the person doesn't have a lung infection) then this would make it harder to survive sepsis. But if so, would either be likely to make a significant difference?

COPD is diagnosis.: The pleural effusion is a SIGN or a symptom, not a "condition". In fact, by draining the effusion, doctors can run tests & perhaps figure out what is causing the problem. But it doesn't portend anything with regards to survival unless it becomes large. COPD is a DIAGNOSIS. It means that the lungs don't function properly. It makes surviving sepsis tougher, as lung problems can easily develop. TTYD. ...Read more

If a girl gets HRT to become male and removes her reproductive system does her life expectancy go down to that of a male's? Or is it lower than that?

Hard to speculate: We don't have a large group of these to study so the answer would be hard to come by.Since these folks also have a suicide risk that is cited as 70X greater than the average population, there is likely some effect that places on any number we would give. ...Read more

My boyfriend is 22, if he gets circumcised will it take away from his sexual experience? Do you recommend this surgery when your an adult?

No routine circ: I don't recommend routine circumcision. If he has medical condition that requires circumcision for treatment, then he should have it done. He will not suffer a major decrease in sexual pleasure right away. Whether he will in the long run is debatable, but if so, i don't think it is going to be a major problem. Circumcised men do just as well as the uncircumcised. ...Read more

Hi. Can a women or a men develop HPV without sexual contact. If the couple has it does it mean that one of the two slept with someone else who has it?

HPV transmission: Although HPV is mainly considered a sexually transmitted disease, there is some evidence of some transmission during exposure during rough play such as wrestling or contact sports. This is one of the reasons the Gardasil vaccine for HPV prevention is administered to boys and girls as early as 11 years of age.Hope this helps. ...Read more
