Squats: I'm not a big fan of anything that drives a significant amount of force into the patella including squats and lunges — especially if you're still recovering. I like wall sits for quad strengthening (which is what you need for pfs), hamstring stretching and if you want to do squats, use proper technique and stop if you're having pain. Best of luck! ...Read more

What is the best knee brace for pfs for softball? It needs to be able to stand sliding and lots of running and squating. Should I wear on both knees?

What is the best knee brace for pfs for softball? It needs to be able to stand sliding and lots of running and squating. Should I wear on both knees?

Patellofemoral pain: The best brace is no brace. Making sure that your hip abductors and vastus medialis are strong. Also, making sure that your patellar mobilization is good by stretching the lateral retinaculum is paramount. In the short term consider mcconnell or kinesio-taping. Bracing will serve no great purpose if you haven't done the above first. ...Read more

What happens if I think the worse scenario very often and I feel this is deteriorating my life. How do I stop it and interact more with life?

Anxiety Disorder: Anticipation of the worst happening (even if it is exceedingly unlikely) is a symptom of anxiety disorder. This is a distortion of the normal fight or flight response every human is endowed with. Your brain seems to be wired for flight for any environmental stimulus, no matter how trivial. If this is so, see doctor for exam & to formulate a therapeutic plan to include counseling & medication as needed. ...Read more

I have a PFS in my Rknee, when I sitdown for a period I feel that my foot's bottom feeling tierd or painful is that normal with this condition?

I have a PFS in my Rknee, when I sitdown for a period I feel that my foot's bottom feeling tierd or painful is that normal with this condition?

Not likely: Patellofemoral syndrome is caused by the knee cap not riding exactly in its groove, causing pain when the knee cap is closer to the knee joint, such as when you are sitting with your knee bent, or going up stairs. This should not cause pain in your foot. I suggest seeing your doctor if this happens often. Maybe you have some other sort of condition causing both the knee pain and foot pain. ...Read more
