Two answers: You sound like you have migraines. Migraine is far more common than cluster headaches. Cluster headaches have a very specific and distressing pattern. Very different: Both are nasty. The cluster headache awakens at night may last 30-60 minutes, be associated with unilateral eye reddening and tearing and nasal discharge. The neuralgia can occur many times daily is pain over face which is intense and immobilizing, duration 5-10 sec., and may occur several times daily. Cluster headache, like trigeminal neuralgia, produces what is called a "neuralgiform" pain syndrome (no space for details). Migraine is different. But both are neurological syndromes. Likely migraines: Cluster headaches are headaches on one side of the head with eye tearing and/or nose running on that same side of the head that make you agitated and pace that last 15-180 minutes untreated. Migraines last 4+ hours untreated and are more often associated with nausea and blurred vision. The distinction matters since we treat them differently.
