Depends if it's eye: or ear you are talking about or sinuses. Best if you can have your PCP do a physical exam of your face, ears, nose, eyes, and throat and see what's going on! Never good to shot gun these things as it could be nothing, or it could be more serious and missed. Need to treat the cause of your dilated blood vessels. That will solve two birds with one stone!

Ear Infections (Definition)

There are three different types of ear infections that affect different areas of the ear. Outer ear infection (Otitis externa) affects the ear canal and the outside part of the ear. Middle ear infection (Otitis media) affects the middle ear and leads to fluid accumulation behind the ear drum. Inner ear infection (Otitis interna) is a less common inflammation of the inner ear that causes vertigo, ...Read more

Heat but it depends: Before advising either you need a specific diagnosis. Why is it vein pain? Could be some other reason pain is the vein swollen red and hot? Other important things can cause pain in the leg like blood clots, muscle inflammation, and other and you need to have your physician check it

Can I use a heat pack or ice pack for spleen pain?

Can I use a heat pack or ice pack for spleen pain?

Seek medical eval: Spleens don't usually cause pain. If there is enlargement, there is a risk for rupture. I recommend being seen at an urgent care or ER facility to assess the real reason for your problem.

Re the issue of ice pack vs heat pack for someone with costochrondritis?Tried a heat pack - disappointed, ice pack seems better, what does each offer?

Re the issue of ice pack vs heat pack for someone with costochrondritis?Tried a heat pack - disappointed, ice pack seems better, what does each offer?

Ice..,: costochondritis is often helped w/ NSAIDs ( Ibuprofen , for example) and ice packs or ice massage to the affected rib, especially when symptoms are of recent origin or after exercise . Ice 'vasoconstricts' ( decreases size of blood vessels ) and thus often improves the swelling associated w/ costochondritis. Additionally it may help to 'numb' the affected area and lessen the pain . Best of Luck!

Should I use a heating pad on low to help the pain of my ear infection?

Yes: Sometimes the heat will help pain, but be cautious about the settings; not too hot! oral pain meds like Ibuprofen maybe offer better relief, and of coarse you should return to your doctor for evaluation.

Looking for a home remedy for a ear infection. I'm dizzy, heating lose, no drainage.?

Looking for a home remedy for a ear infection. I'm dizzy, heating lose, no drainage.?

Ear infection: Is it the ear canal or the middle ear that is involved? For outer ear/otitis externa/ swimmer's ear there are otc treatments available. Dizziness, however, suggests otitis media & possible labyrinthitis (infection/ inflammation in the balance mechanism). Otc decongestant may help; otc dramamine (dimenhydrinate) (low dose to prevent side effects) can help with dizziness. If not better in couple days, see fp for tx.

I am on my 2nd day of z-pack and have developed a new symptom ,ear pain, if this is an ear infection will z-pack still help?

If...: If you are having an ear infection Z-pack could also help as long as this is related to a bacterial infection. If viral or related to something else it will not. If not better after a few days or pain is severe see your doctor again for reevaluation.

Was rx'd z pack 250 for sinus w/ear infection. After 5 days no improvement. Was then rx'd augmentum 875. Safe to take with z pack still in my system?

Sinustis.: Zithromax is not a good medicine for sinus infection. Bugs causing this type of infections are resistant to this medicine. This medicine may cause arrhythmias and other heart problems.Recent guideline stresses upon not to use it for infections which can be treated with other antibiotics. Augmenting is an excellent choice. You can take it safely.

Could be: The middle ear will usually hurt if you stretch or hurt the ear drum. This is most commonly due to a build up of pressure behind the drum from pus, but other things can do it.The only way to know is to have her seen. With that degree of discomfort, the sooner the better.

Diagnosed with an ear infection: prescribed amoxicillin, took it. Didn't work after a week. Prescribed a z pack, took it. A week later it still hurts?

Otitis media: Infections can be caused by viruses and bacteria. Given your poor response to the antibiotics several things could have occurred. You may well have killed the bacteria causing the inner ear event...but the inflammation from the infection takes longer to resolve. Its also very possible that this was a viral infection..therefore no antibiotics will work.

I have an ear infection. I took a z pack bc i'm allergic to amoxicillin. Now i still can't hear. What now?

Ear infection: You need to have your ear checked by your doctor, the fluid may remain impairing your hearing without a residual infection. If need be other antibiotics can be given not related to either drug, but first the correct diagnosis needs to be established. Sudafed can help.

I was diagnosed with middle ear infection and have finished my z-pack. I am still very dizzy. What can I do ?

Get seen today!: Dizziness is not always due to ear infections. It may be due to other serious neurologic problems. So if your dizziness has not gone away, call your doctor or get seen today to be sure nothing more serious is going on. Do not drive or operate hazardous equipment, climb ladders, etc. when dizzy!

Possible: If the vertigo is the result of inner ear inflammation, virus is the most likely cause. Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pak is only a 6 day dose and may not be long enough. Nevertheless, this problem usually disappears without any treatment. The vertigo can be treated with an antihistamine such as meclizine.

I have had an ear infection for 9 weeks and have taken a z pack, keflex 3 times, a nasal spray, a steroid pack. What else is there to do for my ears?

I have had an ear infection for 9 weeks and have taken a z pack, keflex 3 times, a nasal spray, a steroid pack. What else is there to do for my ears?

Consider myringotomy: You may no longer have an ear infection, but rather retained fluid in the middle ear. This can resolve with time or be treated with an incision of the ear drum (myringotomy) which facilitates air flow into your middle ear space and drainage of the fluid.
