I got a terrible sunburn yesterday and my upper back and shoulders are literally covered in blisters. What can I do to help the pain and get this healing faster? Using aloe and ibuprofen now.
I got a really bad sunburn 4 days ago & my feet & ankles are still swollen. I'm using aloe gel & taking ibuprofen, anything more I should be doing?
Aloe: I agree w dr. Miller. Just to let you know - aloe products usually need to contain at least 90% aloe for the aloe to do it's work. Very few products on the market have this concentration. As a result - it is best to have your own aloe plant. Break open the thick leaves and the sap will drip out. Take care.See 3 more doctor answers
My sunburn is so bad I can barely walk. What should I do? Aloe, cold water and ibuprofen are not helping. And now I'm noticing small purple rash like patches, but I'm not itchy.
Put the Fire Out.: You can start by having a doctor evaluate the true extent of the burn. A treatment plan will be more effective if you know just how bad it is.

My friend has very bad sunburn on the top of his feet. His right foot is also a bit swollen as a result. Is there anything besides Advil (ibuprofen) and the application of aloe that he could use to help this heal faster?
Your friend: Is actually doing a good job, sometimes a foot doc would put on an unnaboot as well, but I think the treatment you mention is a good start.See 1 more doctor answer

My eye lids are sunburned. I've used cold tea bags and aloe. I've also taken motrin. Will Claritin (loratadine) help? I am at a resort so I'm limited to resources.

Not worried: That dose is okay to take daily under a doctor's care but exceeds the daily over-the-counter dose. However, what is not known is how long the 1800 mg daily dose can be taken safely without causing hypertension, stomach ulcers and other problems.
Y R U taking it?: The usual dose is 10 mg per kg per dose every 8 hours up to 800 mg per dose or up to a 176 pound person. Doses above that don't usually help and increase side effects. Most common side effects are stomach upset (possible ulcer). As with most things in life, on the one hand but on the other hand.
Ibuprofen: The usual single dose of ibuprofen is 400 - 600mg. 6000 mg is 7.5 times the maximum single dose. This dose if taken very often may result in GI problems and or renal problems so be careful

Healthy otherwise?: Although not helpful to take too large a dose of ibuprofen, a single dose in an otherwise healthy person should not be a problem.
