Aloe: I agree w dr. Miller. Just to let you know - aloe products usually need to contain at least 90% aloe for the aloe to do it's work. Very few products on the market have this concentration. As a result - it is best to have your own aloe plant. Break open the thick leaves and the sap will drip out. Take care.

My sunburn is so bad I can barely walk. What should I do? Aloe, cold water and ibuprofen are not helping. And now I'm noticing small purple rash like patches, but I'm not itchy.

Put the Fire Out.: You can start by having a doctor evaluate the true extent of the burn. A treatment plan will be more effective if you know just how bad it is.

Ice & nsai: As long as you do not have blistering it is a superfuical sunburn if you have been out in the sun. You have chills because your internal body temperature is catching up with the outside. Ice to the area and a non-steroidal antiinflamatory like ibuprofen will help.

Y R U taking it?: The usual dose is 10 mg per kg per dose every 8 hours up to 800 mg per dose or up to a 176 pound person. Doses above that don't usually help and increase side effects. Most common side effects are stomach upset (possible ulcer). As with most things in life, on the one hand but on the other hand.
